I must be missing something here: We're on here talking about how much is sucks to be an 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament? This is only our second time playing in the tournament, first time by an At Large Bid, and arguably the first time in "Summit League" history as we know it now. Look a the picture of our team when they found out that they made it into the tournament, I don't see disappointment anywhere. The Bunnies got seeded higher than we did, so what? They also beat us twice, won the conference title, and won the Summit League Tournament. because of our schedule, the fact that they beat us catapulted them into better position.

I must have missed where anybody said it sucked to be an 8 seed or that they were expecting USD to be seeded higher than SDSU.

Get that first Tournament win and savor it for a brief time. I think you can beat Clemson (you've already beaten a #3 seed team), then who knows, if you gain momentum. Regardless, congrats for helping our League get two teams in, Hope Cierra's foot injury is all healed up.

Since non-conference schedule was finished, I’ve been waiting for NCAA tourney, with idea the Yotes have a chance to win some games. Nothing happened in Sioux Falls to change that, just a few props moved around, still the big stage, Let’s Go Yotes!!

Some people would have preferred a 7 or 10 seed, likely in hopes of avoiding playing a 1 seed at their arena if we won the first game, but my initial thought is that an 8 seed is a million times better than that 15 seed we had last time. We are actually seeded higher than our first round opponent instead of 13 spots (times 4) lower. I think the excitement is tempered because a bid has been expected for at least a month, maybe two. This team was ranked or on the fringe for quite some time now. I was never comfortable about our odds at a bid and seeing USD in the bracket was more of a relief than anything, but you better believe everyone will be pumped at tipoff on Friday and especially hyped when we get our first tourney win in program history.

One thing that I don't think everyone is celebrating enough is that we are playing at 6 PM on Friday. Can't help but notice some people were stuck with games at 10 AM on Saturday. Not sure I'll even be up for that tipoff.

Not sure I'll even be up for that tipoff. That’s because you’ll be hungover after our win Friday. 🤪 I believe in this team. I LOVE these gals. Play team basketball for all the right reasons. I’m so proud of them and USD. I loved being a Coyote 44 years ago and I love it even more today.

Opponents in the tourney w/seed:
#3 Iowa State - #14 New Mexico State #6 sdsu - #11 Quinnipiac #7 Missouri - #10 Drake (funny how we have two 2018-19 opponents facing off) #10 Indiana - #7 Texas #11 Missouri State - #6 DePaul
Have we ever played this many tourney teams in a season? That's 8 games we played against 6 teams, and it's not like any were against low-majors who won their conference tournament - the lowest seed is an 11.

I already had Friday off work to watch the men's tourney with a fellow USD grad, the hangover was inevitable but will now be compounded!

One more thing I find interesting is how exciting it was to be ranked in the AP poll, and then seeing how little it means for the tourney. Rice is sitting at 21st in the AP poll and got a 12 seed. Turns out polls don't mean much at all. Who could have ever guessed?

Turns out polls don't mean much at all. Who could have ever guessed? Bingo. Another interesting thing is how much weight we put into whether an opponent is AP-ranked when we play them. The committee does put a lot of weight on your record against top-25 teams, but it’s The RPI top 25, and only the rankings at the end of the season matter. Not at the time we played them. So the lesson is to pay attention to what teams tend to have high RPI scores, and schedule those teams, regardless of their “actual” strength. That’s the RPI hack.

This Clemson team has had quite the season. Their first-year coach just accomplished Clemson’s first winning season since 2004, finishing 7th in the tough ACC, and winning COY. Biggest one-year turnaround in conference history!
I’m going to guess and say that they probably aren’t the biggest or most talented team, having been a doormat for so long. OTOH, they probably have a great deal of momentum and confidence right now. Also: did I mention they finished 7th in WBB’s deepest conference? That points to a dangerous team.

"from the ACC" is probably all one really has to hear to know that they will be a more than worthy opponent.

Team-----RPI--SOS--Record--Last 10--1>25--26>50--51>100--101>999--<150
Clemson-51---29----19-12---5-5-------3-6----1-1-----4-3-------11-2-------6-1
USD------40---163---26-5----8-2-------1-1----2-3-----3-0-------20-1------19-1
I like the consistency the Yotes have shown playing teams in the 50-and-below category. we are 23-1 vs Clemson's 15-5.
