Just thought I would get a thread started. Transfer season has become a big event in college sports, and there is usually quite a bit of movement after a new coach's first year. Per this article, it appears Hagedorn is ready to come back for his senior year: goyotes.com/news/2019/3/21/mens-basketball-hagedorn-has-eyes-set-on-2019-20-season.aspxNot sure there is as much potential for the SL to lose key players as there was last year. So far Jake Krafka from Denver is the only transfer I have seen that I recognize. Of course, lots of movement happens after the coach firing/hiring season ramps up in the next couple weeks too. Embrace the process I guess.

So what you’re saying is: first silly season, then transfer season. Sounds right. I remember the final four is usually a networking/ meat market for BB coaches. Lee mentioned a Jr College transfer and a D-1 transfer they were working on.

I wouldn't be surprised if we would lose a player to transfer this off season. The odds seems to be in favor of that anymore for every team. Don't think it'll be any of the upperclassman though. There is already one juco coming in, Richard Polanco, who, if nothing else, is a big, physical player.

I feel like a transfer is almost likely every season, with higher odds yet with a new coaching staff having finished their first year with guys they inherited. There are bound to be guys who gave this staff a shot and found it wasn't a good fit.

I would guess there are players the staff inherited where, after a year, there will be an honest discussion about what the player's role will be going forward, what their prospects of future playing time will be, etc.

Former Coyote commit Tauriawn Knight is transferring from USU. That was quick. Pretty sure he burned his redshirt too.

Wonder if he regrets his decommit. Best not to look in the rear view mirror though.

Wonder if he regrets his decommit. Best not to look in the rear view mirror though. I thought some on here had some info that Lee wasn't that sad to see him and Fakira go. BTW, Fakira also played very limited minutes for the Aggies. Griesel was the one Lee wanted, and obviously he ended up starting at NDSU. I'd be interested to know what was going on behind the scenes with all of those guys and Smith's staff. Oh well. Water under the bridge, now. Maybe if Knight comes to Vermillion, Lee doesn't go after Kelly? I think Cody was a good get. At to the rest of the short-season recruiting, jury is still out. Lee was very involved with recruiting at GCU, and yet he never went after any of their recruits. That's one of Lee's best traits, IMO. He wasn't going to burn that bridge with Majerle. Short term gains vs. long term integrity.

As much I like Craig Smith, he actively went after the USD recruits when he got the Utah State job and that tarnished his reputation with me.

Unwritten rule, when you leave a school you do not take recruits with you. USU did not pay dime for those recruits, and then the Todd father comes in and has no money to recruit. I like Craig but that is bad. IOPO.

I like Craig but that is bad. IOPO. I like Craig a lot, and I know its a business, but I agree. This is one of my least favorite things about the college recruiting process. When you pay for a coach you pay for, in a lot of cases, the players tied to that coach via recruiting/relationships.
