On road match vs. Mavs Friday:
UNO did take advantage of a couple of things (the first time we played), that we feel we can minimize a little bit. Looking back, I do think that they challenged us in ways that we just hadn't been, in some situations. We responded well, so now our goal is just to clean up some of those things.
I don't love that match, because we gave up a 23-17 lead, or something like that, or 18-10. And I don't love that we extended the match in that moment, because we didn't take care of business right away. Those are learning moments... A lot of it will continue to be focused on us.

On Denver Sunday:
...We're definitely going to need our fans. They've been a big part of our success, and they will continue to be, as we get to the end of the season.

Maybe not a huge deal, but someone started a thread about our VB team in the volleyball-specific fan message board, "VolleyTalk" (lots of posters there, especially fans of the elite D-1 programs like Nebraska and other Big Ten programs). The thread went up two days ago, and there is already 5 pages of posts! (link)It was started by a representative of "Volleyball Mag", where someone wrote an article about the team... (link).Kind of nice to get a notice from some writers and fans on the national stage.

I really like Craig and John's interviews on KWSN, and I had been wondering if they were ever going to interview Coach Williamson........FINALLY they did, yesterday before the Championship match. Better late than never. (LINK)

I was having a hard time coming up with one definitive statement on what this season has meant for the future of Coyote Volleyball. I tend to be long-winded (see below). I came across this tweet that really sums everything up nicely for me in three short sentences:
At that final match I couldn't help but notice the conversations of the people around me. Many, like myself knew enough about Volleyball to be dangerous, but were still confused about the finer points, or certain calls and hand signals from the refs. There were a lot of wives and daughters explaining things to their husbands and dads.
In the end, it didn't really matter who knew or didn't know what calls meant. Everyone could easily get behind an ace, or an amazing dig (lots from Anne), or thunderous kill. I was witnessing the slow cultural transfer of knowledge from fan to fan, and the thing that united all of us was a passion for our team.
When walking out of the SCSC I heard so many excited conversations about the match between the various groups of fans. About the officiating, or about the great play of certain athletes (on both sides of the net). These weren't just fans dutifully showing up to support the team like robots, they were entertained and enthralled by the sport. For many who that was their first Coyote VB match, I don't think it will be their last.

Anyone know who the new recruit might be? (and in what class?)

Yesterday's "Coyote Report" that was broadcasted live on the Coyote Radio network is also available on John Thayer's Yotecast: LINKHere are some quotes from Coach Williamson about her team after three tough losses in the Shocker Classic (and completion of the non-con schedule): "We put together a really tough schedule this year. It's the toughest schedule we've ever played in the preseason. We knew we could go into tournaments like this and go 3-0,.... or 0-3. We did that (scheduling) on purpose. We knew this team needed to be challenged to find out exactly where we were at." "The hardest part is that when we played our best is actually when our back was against the wall. We just didn't [play] at a high enough level right out of the gates. And that put us in some tough situations." ... "We just have to iron out the consistency of it, and play at a higher level throughout [the match]."

more on Lolo:
"Lolo Weideman ... that's probably the best she has played so far, and to put it together for three straight matches against three great opponents is a really good sign for us."
"We recruited her as an OH/DS, ... even though she's little, about 5'-6", she can jump. She's always [been a hitter], her entire career. Up until this past year. She plays the game at a high level, but I think it took her a little time to adjust [to Libero], ... and understand her role in a different way."
"This weekend you saw her IQ just skyrocket. She didn't' just have 30 easy digs [in her career game], she really had to stretch herself and make some big plays for us. I think people are going to really enjoy watching her. Right now she's really important to our program. She's that anchor to our defense."
"The coolest thing I saw this last weekend was her leadership role. Now that she's playing so well, and feels more comfortable in what she's doing, she feels more comfortable having those conversations with her teammates. We need that. We need some leadership to step up, and talking about "what is our standard?" every single time. And calling out people who aren't doing it. Lolo is a great person, and people really take it well from her."

She’s being brutally honest. They do play better when under pressure of being behind. That’s hard to admit. Basically the same squad as last year which tells me it’s more mental than anything else. They just need to win some matches and get the confidence back. They’re fine
