Hagedoorn went 7/10, 4/5 from 3, and scored 1/3 of our points? Yeah I'm excited for this season.

Nice win to open the season. Listed under things you have to like: FT %, 3pt %, rebounding, Hagedorn being back and depth. A lot of players played a lot of minutes which, after last season, must seem like a real luxury for Coach Lee. Thing not to like: a few too many turnovers. Hopefully that will rectify itself with time. Many of these guys haven't seen very much court time together. With our scoring woes last year, I really like the arc shooting. The women’s team had turnover issues, too. Hopefully just a “knock the rust off” thing. Surprised to see the defense allow 62 points to a team like that, but I have confidence Lee will get that tightened up, too.

Tonight we are playing Hawaii at 9 PM. Link to watch is here: bigwest.org/watch/?Live=2420&path=hawaiiLast year Hawaii went 18-13 and 9-7 in the Big West. They had good wins against Utah, Colorado, and Rhode Island in the non-conference, but didn't really impress in conference play with a couple of really bad losses to Cal Poly and UC Riverside. Hawaii returns 64% of its scoring from last year, led by seniors Zigmars Raimo and Eddie Stansberry. Hawaii appears to draw a little over 5,000 fans per game and had 5093 in attendance for their 65-52 win over Florida A&M. That final score looks like it is closer than the actual game was as Hawaii led 32-12 at halftime and were up by 25 with 4 minutes left. FWIW Florida A&M finished 333 in the RPI last year and might be the worst team on our schedule (other nominees are Alabama State and SIU-Edwardsville). One other note is that Hawaii is currently without their head coach due to health reasons. I wish him the best but that might work in our favor. This is a great early season challenge for us. A win would have me feel like my preseason optimism is justified. The almighty Vegas line has us as 1 point underdogs. I'm calling for the victory.

The islands are a tough place for a visiting team to play, especially in non conference. The Ralph Sampson/Chaminade game from years ago keeps popping into my head. We pull this one out it would be an exceptionally good win.

We pull this one out it would be an exceptionally good win. I was going to post the same thing. I’m sure that jet lag might be a contributing factor, .... but unfortunately, the homer officiating on the island has gained a reputation over the years as well. My money is on at least one technical for Lee. Hopefully not, but I won’t be surprised.

Watching the pre-game of the men's game against Hawaii and apparently our last head coach was nabbed by UNLV along with one of our best players. Sounds familiar.... =)

It's only about five minutes, but Goodrick looks good out there. Chisom has made some plays too. Jovic, Armstrong, and Perrot-Hunt all playing too. Impressive to see them all holding their own and building the lead with key starters on the bench.

If they announce this as a crowd of 5000 then they are clearly just making up numbers.

I wish Umude would have better shot selection, but my god is he talented.

Yotes win! That was an absolute battle down the stretch. Hawaii looked like a good team tonight, I think we are going to value this win a lot more as the year goes on. Great things are coming this year!

Good experience of holding off Hawaii down the stretch. Goodrick is a player. Good to know we can count on our bench this year. I still see chisolm and Kruz giving quality minutes too, but Simpson/Stan willed us to victory tonight. Finish it off tomorrow!

Stansberry was cold blooded like Mooney in the 2nd half for Hawaii. Very impressive to hold them off for the win. Really like Goodrick's game.

Awesome win against a good team on the road really without Hagedorn being much of a factor. Amazing at the depth we seem to have this season. Loved how the free throw shooting at the end nailed it down. Hats off to Cody Kelly. Interesting to see Goodrich on the floor in crunch time this early in his career...he's going to be a good one.

Tough road win and as mentioned a lot of contributors especially necessary since Hags had some foul trouble for much of the game! Very good FT shooting and withstood some crazy 3s by Hawaii. Reset quick for tomorrow game.
