Watching live I believe the flagrant. Umude fouled really hard. What did he do? The camera work was so bad it didn't really catch the end of the play. I could tell that umude was going in to try and block the dunk, but from what you say I'm assuming he caught a lot more than just the arm on the foul. Did he whack him across the head? I also would have liked to see what that flop call was on Kelly, but of course no replay on that either. The camera work was pretty bad all game, but I thought the announcing was pretty good. The guy was not a homer at all and even seemed to get excited at good plays made by USD. Frustrating game to let slip away. After getting up by 8 I don't know if we scored again. You could tell Umude was swinging his arm very aggressively, and he must have missed the ball. I don't think it matter if he got arm/body/head with how hard it looked like he was going at that ball. Agreed on that Kelley flop call. Got no help from the broadcast crew on that one.

No matter who or what transpired, this was a loss to a team we should have handled. The last three halves have been poor and I sure hope this doesn't mean we'll struggle on the road this season. After the play in Hawaii, I wouldn't have thought this would be a problem. Obviously, plenty of season left though.

In defense of the refs (who struggled) it seemed to me that Lee was really over the top in chewing their ass. Almost non-stop. And that isn't likely to get you any favors. (never understood why some coaches ride the refs a whole game) I would have liked to see some touches for Hags on the post in the final few minutes - get a short shot or some FT's out of it instead of a scoring drought.

My observations:
Looked sluggish out there, dug ourselves a 24-9 deficit to start the game. Stats were pretty equal except for USD having 14 turnovers to NAU's 6 NAU face guarded Hags to take him away and worked well until we started to set him up in the 2nd half. USD is good at FT's especially Hags and Umude. Huge down the stretch when they can draw fouls and make the FTs Team missed Simpson today, Hunt is a little timid. Simpson is the 3rd leading scorer and averages 12 ppg Kelly had a good offensive game with 17 pts on 6-8 shooting, but 5 TO is too much with no assists Umude did a much better job not getting tacky fouls. forced a few passes on offense today. played great overall TP is becoming a liability on defense and picks up way too many unnecessary fouls. Ty Chisolm has played great this season and had 17 pts today. He is great in transition often getting layups. also a great slasher in the regular offense. My biggest surprise so far this year. Not overly worried about the loss since there is no at large in SL MBB. Make a good showing against Washington and get ready for conference.

Agree on Chisolm. He's definitely a player. I would think he'll start to see more and more playing time.
