It was so good to see Simpson back to normal yesterday. He is what makes this team work.

My take on yesterday's game and 'defending the 3s' was they had a good post player and as Coach Lee said at halftime, sometimes you have to pick your poison. I also believe defending the 3s when up by double digits is more of a 'show me' defense, show me you're going to hit them at a high rate, and then we'll come out and defend. That didn't happen in the 2nd half. Although they shot it over 50%, State missed nearly as many 3s (11) as the Yotes attempted (15).
And as for defense, it was State's lack therof, that was the key contributor in my opinion. (As mentioned, they were over-matched.)

I'm not sure of the logistics in turning two separate games into a double-header after selling 3K tickets for each... but they did it. [...] I think this is the best scenario, given the circumstances. AD Herbster talked about those logistics in greater detail on today's Yotecast with John Thayer:"We really started to monitor it on Tuesday afternoon. I think that's when the weather reports started getting a little more severe. I can tell you that's when it started, because our ticket sales stopped. Everyone was watching and waiting to see what was gonna happen with the weather." ... "We knew (SDSU's) original plan was to come down on Saturday, so we started working with them to back that up to Friday, but it didn't take long for the roads to get really bad (on Friday)...."
"One of our scenarios was just moving the game back to 4:00... but after conversations with the Highway Patrol, they were anticipating closing the Interstate Friday evening, which they ended up doing. And Saturday was no travel advised. I got on the phone with all parties concerned (bus companies, officials, teams, our own support personnel, and by 3:00 (Friday) I knew what we were gonna have to do. Saturday wasn't going to be a good option...."
"Now we have to make up a plan for individuals that bought a ticket for Saturday, and/or bought a ticket for Sunday....We had two separate tickets sold for two events that we were now gonna combine as one event.... Are we gonna clear the arena, then have everyone come back in again?...knowing what the weather was going to be outside, I certainly wasn't going to do that..."
"We made the decision to make the game a double-header, and our ticketing staff and game management staff did a great job coming up with a plan on how we were going to execute that..."Wow. most of that that he described (I didn't include everything he said) was accomplished over the course of a few hours on Friday afternoon... I'm trying to remember what I accomplished over the same time-frame. Our athletic department does an amazing job putting it all together.
