Not real pretty but it says a lot about your grit to have two well-coached teams basically shut down your POY (Duffy really struggled in both of those games against ORU and SDSU) and you're still well-rounded and tough enough to come out with the W's.
Great stuff. Good luck in the tournament!

Both do so much outside the box score, much more than any other player on our team and more than any average fan realizes. But I agree that it says a lot about our team when no one shoots it well and we can still take it to State.

Logged into the Spotify account for the ride home. Only played songs with the word "dancing" in the title! Super job ladies!

Well that was a fun one. A big thanks to the two posters that hooked me up with tickets today. Was good meeting/seeing you guys again.
Here's what I like most about the game today. We played one of our worst games of the year and still managed to beat a state team shooting well beyond what they have the rest of the season. They wanted to play bully ball and beat on Sjerven in the post and we still found a way to win at their game.
On another note, state fans are still the biggest whiners in the country. My God. I sat in the middle of a bunch of them and all they could talk about was how the refs were screwing them.

I totally agree ... but if she's putting together 10-point games on sub-30 percent shooting, grabbing three rebounds with more turnovers than assists and no 3-point makes what she's doing outside the box score is going to be fairly irrelevant. They are simply going to need more production from her to win tournament games.

Where I was sitting we outnumbered the blue, and the whining was a lot more muted from them than typical. It was awesome. I have to say I'm pretty disappointed in how petty the bickering on Twitter is from Jack's fans. Crying about the refs is one thing, but Name-calling our student-athletes is pretty low.

They're going after Sjerven pretty bad. I guess everybody wants to take a shot at the tournament MVP. I'm not gonna go there, but some of those broads from state provide plenty of material for jokes.

They shot under 50% for the game, we just shot really poorly like we often do in the championship. Thank God we clearly had the better team this year because it was just enough to squeak out a victory in this game. State is a good team and I could tell after the game in Brookings that they were very capable of playing us tough. We are going to need to play better though if we want to make any noise in the tournament. Thank God for Hannah today.

i agree that it is commendable that the coyotes were able to win with almost nothing going right for large portions of the game. Case in point was when the Jacks had the lead at a point when they were being outshot 32-19 or something like that. I am guessing that during large portions of the game many Coyote fans had to think "here we go again" with how well the jacks were playing and how poorly the yotes were playing. Many Coyote fans are kind of conditioned to expect the worst when playing this team at this tourney. even though so many thing went against them USD is just that much better than SDSU and even their rabbit foot couldnt pull it out this time.
luckily for the yotes they are a really good team historically that just cant play well in this game. they are actually a pretty darn good post summit tourney team and very good pre tourney including in frost.
this game is simply their kryptonite and it was again today but even that factor cannot crush the greatness of this team.

Not sure where to put this, but Coach Brewster is out at UND. Just putting it here because it’s still tournament time in my brain....

(Duffy on her not playing well)
"I think for me as a player, I'm always thinking, 'what is the best shot we can get'....I hunted early (in the game), those weren't dropping, so that didn't mean I was going to stop shooting, but it definitely meant: maybe there's a better shot we can be getting somewhere else. I think down the stretch we did that. We found the inside shots that were falling, and it paid off."
(Duffy on Coach P)
"She did not get rattled, ... she was very consistent throughout the game. At halftime, we knew the ball hadn't been going in and we knew we needed to find better ways to score. Her message was pretty matter-of-fact..... Throughout my career she's just been an amazing person to play for."
