Also the second lowest score for the Jacks in D-1, or so I read.

Bison won, and controlled the game.

On the SDSU website, the 2012 score says 80-59

The latest from Charlie Creme addresses the effect of the Summit League tournament on the women's seeding. Some of his comments: (1) If somebody other than USD wins, it will knock another team of the bubble (2) SDSU is in firmly in the field. Injuries and players no longer able to take the court impact seeding, but not selection.

I'd rather win the tournament title, of course. This is an earned respect thing for our two programs that has been built over time IMHO. (also, I'm going to steal your link for the bracketology thread)

Come on board, no mention of the Jacks losing to Syracuse by a pretty big margin. They sustain an injury or two and they fall apart. Same thing happens to the Coyotes and they persevere. Look at all the talent that the Coyotes lost to injuries or graduation and they just keep on cruising. No making excuses for Coyote Women's Basketball. The Jacks are paper tigers when they don't have a full house of fans cheering them on. They are a pretty blah program when they actually don't have a huge crowd advantage. This is proven when they don't get to play in Frost North or Frost South. Look what happens when they have to play in Vermillion which the Summit made sure they didn't have to do this year. Not a pretty picture.

Honestly, give credit to the jacks for hanging in there for 3 quarters without their best and most important player by a wide margin. My opinion is they were overseeded where they were and should have been around 11 or 12, especially if you look at how others were treated. Oregon is 10 in the NET and a 6 seed so you have to think they were bumped 2-3 seed lines based on their injury to their starting pg Paopao.

I think of SDSU's situation a bit like USD's in 2018-19. Once Duffy was hurt, they dropped the SLT finals and then lost in the first round. A healthy Duffy likely = winning those two games (though they would have had a different seed), but injuries happen. It also shines the light on a team that is too reliant on one player (who can also have foul trouble or an off night), and I think Coach P has done a great job making sure that isn't the case.
I see no reason to try to throw salt in a wound here - no one expected them to win. (Though when I saw the draw, I thought maybe....)

I didn't watch the game, was busy harvesting barn wood from my in-laws' farm (DIY project). I did check the score from time to time, and I was surprised to see them keep it competitive for most of the game. I assume Syracuse blew it open in the 4th Q. I'll have to check the box score/recap.
Also, Sydney Stapleton was out of the game with an ACL injury she sustained in practice. Not making excuses for them, but holy hell with all the ACL stuff this year. I agree that we currently have more depth than them, especially at guard.
I agree that they have been fortunate to have had so many home games this year. Especially the Showdown game. They do have talent, so I wouldn't call them paper tigers. Seems like our Rabbit poster was probably right when he(she) said that Myah has covered up some issues on the team that have now been exposed. Their perimeter game just isn't as good as many in the Summit. They need more balance on the roster (as I have said before). I have to admit that A.J. has proven himself time and time again as a coach. Especially in March, which is what you ideally want. I knew about the injury before the game and I assumed they would be completely destroyed in that game. And yet they kept it close for much of it (from what I saw).
I feel like next year with our big three coming back we will again be the favorites to win the league. We could lose a player or two to transfer, but we will be fine otherwise. We just need to hope Wisconsin doesn't come calling for Coach P.

It was an interesting game. Syracuse missed a lot of easy shots under the basket and their D was not great at tiems. Their trap press worked well and their height helped a lot--they had 14 blocks (only 2 off tourney record)!

I see the women's tournament went all chalk on day 1. I know parity is lesser in this game but wow.
