I love how AJ kept his starters in the game when the Yotes switched to bench at the 5:00 mark. #classy First time he's won this game in a couple years. Wanted to make it a statement I guess. Think about it from his point of view. He knows he's been the inferior WBB coach in the state since Amy Williams arrived in Vermilion. Not sure how he’s been the inferior coach. Since 2010, not including tonight’s game he’s 14-12 vs. the coyotes. 8 summit tournament championships since 2010. You have a great coach and a great team, no need to bash the opposition.

I don’t have the numbers in front of me for wins, but Amy’s first season was 2011-2012. Not arguing either way, but if you are arguing against that claim, maybe pick the correct year.

Annoying stat: of the 4 teams that played today, only SDSU WBB was even near their normal offensive production.

Annoying stat: of the 4 teams that played today, only SDSU WBB was even near their normal offensive production. Do you think it had something to do with the officials deciding to call these games “tournament style”? Not saying there was any bias, but letting them play sometimes means “letting defenses disrupt everything “. Whatever. As long as it’s called equitably, teams are free to adjust.

Yeah, that no doubt played a roll in it. I dislike that it is the norm in tournaments, but really don't like it this time of year. Basketball is a beautiful game when it is allowed to flow.

This really came down to poor shooting. I still believe USD has the better team, just didn't show up tonight.

I mean, they won head to head and beat a Gonzaga team that beat the Yotes. I like the belief but the evidence thus far isn't on your side.

4 alarm alert, guys! Some posters on the Jacks board said something less than complimentary about our team! I’d better call out all those posters on that other board by name, because they are so mean and I have suck a thin skin!
LMFAO.
Get. A. Life.
They are also destroying Brad Newitt (again) for the high crime of objectivity.
Zimmer is clearly a closet Coyote fan as well. Everyone is out to get the Jacks.

For some sick reason they haven't been able to get Sjerven out of their heads since she transferred here. She made the rest of the SL her bitch last year then they crucify her for falling when she gets hacked by some burly broad from state.

This really came down to poor shooting. I still believe USD has the better team, just didn't show up tonight. I think with Monica and Watson I believe this. However, sounding like our current team is well our current team, I think we will be the underdog on a neutral court in sf. Granted last night was a bit of a mirage with the shooting(we are generally a much better outside shooting team head to head). We are still so reliant on either korngable or Lamb to score and score efficiently that when either one has an off game, we are going to struggle. I think we need more assertiveness on offense from Krull and Hansen to become a 6-8 point scorers off the bench to reach potential this year. Both have shown flashes, just seems Hansen has had a hard time getting and staying on the floor.

They're definitely going to adjust (and make some more shots) but again this is what I was worried about against good teams for this squad. If Lamb isn't making perimeter shots, who does? There's just so much pressure on her, Sjerven and Korngable to produce all the offense. They desperately need somebody else to step up and take some of the load off. One thing I noticed: Ugofsky primarly matched up with Selland, and did a great job. However, on offense Ugofsky didn't even look towards the hoop (looked like she was told to focus on playing D). Since the Yotes prefer a 4-out style, that allows Selland to play defense by standing in in the middle of the lane while Ugofsky was outside of the 3 point line. As such, Sjerven was essentially double teamed even before she had the ball. Obviously you don't spread a defense if no one makes any shots, but I think we need to make Selland respect whoever she is guarding, or nothing will be available in the lane again today. Hansen is the obvious candidate to be on the floor more, as well as Guebert/Hempe combo.
Others have noted it - our expectations coming into the year didn't count on heavy usage of freshmen or 2 of the top 6 being hurt. So we need to take a page out of SDSU's playbook from the past few years - keep trying different strategies and be willing to lose the battle until we find the right strategy to win the war (SLT).

In fairness I should note that as much as I dislike that officiating style, it is an obvious benefit for all the young Yotes players to experience it prior to SLT. Let's see how they react.

I think that’s spot on. There simply isn’t enough threat coming from the 4th and 5th options on the floor right now.
