I'm sorry, if you didn't see any desperation in the Spurs game the other night, you clearly weren't watching. Honestly, Manu's shot that was on the line was as desperate as it gets! I like the NHL just as much as the NBA and BOTH of them have been great so far.

OK, I watched a bit of the Portland game last night and the atmosphere surrounding that game was better I thought. I think it depends on what game you are watching. Personally, I like watching the Celtics play, especially at home, the electricity from the crowd translates through the TV. I can't stand, though, how in the NBA they play music DURING the game. I mean, isn't the crowd entertained enough with what is going on on the court? Sure, other sports play music, between faceoffs for hockey, between play in football, when a batter walks up to the plate, but no other sport plays music during the action, well, except for half-pipe snowboarding and figure skating.

"Shakes head" The biggest argument against hockey is two long breaks too..Honestly, I love both, but you are being completely bias right now for very small reasons.

Hey, its not an anti-basketball thing as I enjoy watching the college game. Besides, hockey intermissions gives a guy a chance to hit the bathroom, fix some grub, restock the beer. Honestly, after such heart stopping action a little break is necessary. ;D

Yote 53, I have always wondered why hockey plays 3 periods instead of 2 halves.
PS - I don't watch much hockey during the regular season, but do enjoy catching the playoffs - just wish the late games (this applies to the NBA too) would be played earlier. I am getting to old to stay up and watch the end of the games.

I love both the NBA and NHL playoffs. But is there anything in sports more exciting than an overtime goal, when the home teams wins in Hockey? I loved both the Blackhawk win and the Canuck win in OT. Playoff hockey is great, otherwise i dont watch the regular season.

Yes, when a home team in baseball wins in the playoffs with a walk-off home run...

That is pretty sweet too. 3 periods because after 20 minutes of play the ice is chewed up and needs resurfacing. That's my guess.
