Well that puts to rest my theory that SDSU has a built in advantage from being in the larger town of Brookings. There is not nearly as much for alumni employment opportunities in Verm. I guess you can fault them for not driving across town whereas many USD fans are making a trip from Sioux Falls or Sioux City.

I haven't spent time on that board since I graduated 7 years ago and still know exactly which fan you are referring to without even clicking the link. UNI used to be the only FCS school in the upper midwest. Things went way downhill when 4 more came into their backyard. They used to be able to tell Iowa, Nebraska, both Dakotas, Minnesota, and Wisconsin that they were basically the only school in the area fit for their level of play. I get why their fans are bitter. Even the school that built the "mini UNIdome" is on their level. I've spent some quality time in the Cedar-Loo area and relish seeing the few true UNI fans get angry (most UNI fans absolutely root for them as a backup to Iowa or Iowa State.....or both).

Yeah I usually try and avoid it myself, but I do pop in from time to time to see what folks are saying about us. But yes, UNI has an inferiority complex since they've been passed over by a few area schools and the gap is closing between them and others as well. They still like to think of themselves as the big dog on the block in the MVFC when in reality they are a middle-upper tier team on their best years. NDSU and SDSU are consistently better than they are, then mix in the occasional ISUr or YSU and the Sioux in the last couple seasons. Their big thing is that they're still in the MVC for other sports as well and they think that conference is the cat's meow of mid-majors when in reality the Summit isn't far behind.
