Wow. Murray state I get, but Kansas City and... UT Arlington? I guess being in a large metro trumps everything for the Valley.

I was ready to write an angry post about these guys getting invited but not the 4 Dakota schools, but there is just no way we didn't get a shot before UMKC of all schools. This leads me to believe our ADs have committed to the Summit League no matter what. Really disappointing to be tied to the begrudging members of the Summit instead of with the stable, more competitive, higher funded members of the MVC.
Maybe we can get the public institutions of the MVC to break off and join the Summit? Then the MVC can finish their shift to a mostly private basketball conference by adding ORU, UNO, Denver, and Saint Thomas.

We are going to do something dumb like invite Chicago State to the Summit...aren't we?

Whether Kansas City is 50,000 people or 3,000,000 only 500 people are still going to care about UMKC. They should have never been let back in so their exit is just fine with me. They really do nothing for the conference other than their proximately. Might as well have Morningside or Mt Marty.
We need to think better than UMKC.

This is me laughing at the MVC if they invite UMKC. Please, do it. Maybe that will finally drive the football playing public schools right into our arms.

I took a look at MVCfans to see their perspective on it. I realize that those opinions aren't necessarily representative of the whole fanbase, but the majority were pretty unimpressed with KC and UT Arlington. There was a couple of offhand mentions of NDSU/SDSU, but for the most part we are afterthoughts. Another funny thing is how little interest the basketball-centric schools have in football. There is definitely a rift there. Little to no concern that MSU might leave. Idiots. When anyone mentions football they get shouted down.

I do believe that it could be the rift that leads to a split in the MVC. The non-scholarship football schools feel the scholarship football schools put too many resources into football. With everything going on in CFB and the P5/FBS/FCS shakeups it could turn out that the MVFC schools will want to move to "that second level of football".
Bottom line is UNI, SIU, ISUr, ISUb, and MSU have more in common with the Dakota schools than they do with the MVC privates. Our institutions look similar, our athletics programs look similar. It's just a more natural fit.

It would be really nice in football where every team would then be scheduled to play every other team each season. The one thing I might do though is the adding of Western Illinois if they wanted in. They've been a part from the beginning and it would add an even number for basketball.

I think it would be awesome if the five football playing MVC schools teamed up with the five MVFC schools in the Summit. Maybe let Denver, ORU, UNO, and St Thomas remain members for a 14 team conference, or let them move on because the MVC is looking for members in population centers anyways.

A quick look of that and they downright detest the Dakota schools. They view all of us as inferior and having nothing to offer. The irony is I look at the MVC private schools as snobbish, arrogant, and holding a way higher opinion of themselves than they should. Frankly, I'm not sure the MVC, outside of Loyola whose leaving them, is that much better than the current Summit. I read those opinions as the 4 Dakota schools really need to stick together to forge a future where we're deciding if UNI, for example, is worthy of joining us. It will be interesting when all those Loyola NCAA basketball credits run out what decisions some of those MVC schools make because that's a one bid conference, same as the Summit. With regard to UMKC. The Summit took UMKC because they were a warm body that bridged the gap to Tulsa. These MVC privates see them as some valuable property because of the KC metro population. UMKC is an afterthought in KC. I don't get their thought process on that one.
