I can’t hear anything, but based on my moving picture box (trying to keep it simple for the state fans lurking) these refs have really had some questionable calls. And I’m normally not one to complain about refs but yikes…

State played the part, the undefeated.
Impressed with the fight in the Yotes.
I think we missed our shot in the first half, a lot of missed shots in the paint. Held State to 3 3-pointers attempted, none made. It felt like the Yotes should have been up 5+ at half instead of down five.
Keaton in street clothes?
Xavier looked good for first action in awhile.
This team keeps working and I would love to see what they can do in Sioux Falls!

I give the team and coach some credit. State is good. The ‘Yotes don’t quit.

I thought the key moments of the game were the first minute or two of the second half when the bunnies went 3/3 from behind the arch (see what I did there?) Turned it from a one or two possession game into a double-digit deficit. I think we actually outscored them from the field but couldn't keep pace from the free throw line. Give them credit...we started fouling with about three minutes on the clock and they cashed in and kept us about eight to ten points at bay. First time I've watched them play all year, but Wilson seemed to me to be their best player by far. Everything they did ran through him at least it did tonight.

Are we really at a point with this program where a 10 point loss at home is good as long as the players fight hard? We have a long ways to go as a program and fan base. Nuff said

My takeaways: - It was an interesting strategy on defense - play off of the post players and take away the 3 point shooters. On one hand, it didn't work as Wilson and Appel scored a lot of points at a high rate. But on the other hand, Boogie essentially took Scheirman out of the game as he was a non-factor until the last 3 minutes when the Yotes were fouling. - Though the final shooting % wasn't bad, Yotes just didn't have shots falling. Especially good looks from 3. - I admit I like Coach Hendo. Or maybe "liked". What was his deal last night? He was riding the refs more/harder than Lee - and that is saying something. But the stare-down of the Yotes bench/coaches all night was amazing/odd/ridiculous. He had a look on his face like he was picking a fight with someone. WTF? (Yes, I do realize that some of him looking at the Yotes bench was stealing the signs for the offensive play call. That is slimy in and of itself. But the way he was doing it was unsettling. Anyone know if there is some history?) - WHAT IS GOING ON WITH ALL THE INJURIES? It is getting pretty ridiculous at this point. Really could have used Kutcher last night (see shots not falling above...)
All that said, I walked out of the building liking our chances if there is a round 3. I can't say I expected that when I walked into the building.

Nuff said Are we really at a point with this program where a 10 point loss at home is good as long as the players fight hard? NO! It's never OK to lose to State. Who said that? I'm going to get my pitchfork and my Sh*t kickers and I'll meet you at Carey's and we're going to rid Verm town of anyone who's wearing red-colored glasses. Oh wait, didn't we advertise that it was a red out, and the fans should wear all red, ahh hell with it, that's their problem. We have a long ways to go as a program... Not really, we're pretty close. and as a fan base... Yeah, that's true. Nuff said. 100%

What are our expectations as a program. Is being middle of the pack ok. I get this is a tough year but the Coyotes just don't have the scorers the Jacks have especially their outside shooters. So AJ should be back at full health next year. He is needed badly. The Coyotes are supposed to be a good defensive team and gave up 89 to the Jacks. I get that SDSU can score but scoring 79 points with this assumingly good defense should have been enough to win or at least have a close game in the last couple of minutes.
I know this year isn't over but I don't see the Coyotes making the NCAA tourney this year. Next year should be more promising but there are no guarantees. Maybe it is getting to be time to start evaluating things a bit.
Time for a reality check.
The Coyotes have now been in the Summit Tourney for 9 years, this year will be the 10th. Their total record is 5-9, They have lost in the first round 5 times, lost in the second round 3 times and have been to the final only 1 time. When a person looks at that record is that considered good enough. The Coyotes easily have the 2nd best crowd advantage in the Denny and play in their home state less than an hour from Vermillion. Their tourney winning percentage has to be quite a bit below their Summit League regular season winning percentage.
It is fair to say that the Coyotes have significantly under achieved at this tourney. Whatever can be done remains to be seen but I think it is at least beneficial to take a look at the history at this tourney and to take a look at this program. Things were definitely on the upswing when Smith left but there has been a downturn ever since and this with arguable the best arena in the league. There is no way with the momentum that was created a few years ago should we be in the place we are in today.

The Jacks are without Friedel and they are barely missing a beat. Their fans still expect to win. Shouldn't we expect the same without AJ. As a fan base we just don't have high enough expectations. I don't like Jacks fans and of course I would never want to be one. They are arrogant but they care more and they win more. I would like to see more CARE.
