Opinions?
Program-lifting talent, or ticking time bomb? Or both.
I voted hell yes. Holding grudges against kids is dumb. If he needs an assist on the mental side of things, I think that should be on the table. Why not?
His relationship with his teammates should say something positive about the kid IMHO

The players on the team would have to be on board with it. USD developed a program that has even extended to other colleges and universities that helps student athletes and probably all students if in need. Pretty sure Brenden Webb was a force in establishing this. There was a big article in the Volante last fall about it.

I would be disappointed to see him on the team. Whatever problems he had in Brookings aren't going to be far away in Vermillion. People can change. Betting on it can be foolish though.
I also question how wise it would be for a first-year head coach to invite such a situation while trying to establish himself and the culture.
Is this actually on the table? I'm surprised to see this get its own discussion.

I would personally, but I think it’s beyond a long shot and I totally understand why that is.

Best thing for the kid is to probably get far away from South Dakota and get a fresh start somewhere else where he wouldn't have his history so known. Some anonymity can ease the pressure and make things easier to deal with. It's not running away from your problems it's giving yourself some space so you can deal with them.

Keep Friedel miles away from USD. Trouble maker.

Not gonna happen. I don’t care who the coach is. He won’t wear red

Noah is a good kid who has had some struggles, what kid doesn't. He is also electric with the ball in his hands and is probably the best shooter in the league. He has not made any decisions yet but is close. You should also know that he had a relationship with Craig Smith prior to him going to Utah State.

What kind of struggles did he have in Brookings that warranted benching the best shooter in the league? What makes anyone think he would struggle less at USD?

Coach Pete is one of the biggest advocates for mental health in D1 at the head coach level. Just saying.

I would think he’d want to get out of the area. Fresh start.
