I had interpreted your remark as very condescending, so that's the path I went down. I hadn't seen any indication an expansion of MidcoSN broadcast area was on the table.

See... that's funny, because I had Midco's original proposal which stated the comcast news and I was literally just excited to tell you guys about it (the good news). When I opened the thread, I saw the post that I quoted (which predicted the Comcast deal) so I assumed the person had inside info and that's why I asked when the official announcement was going to be. **this post is not condescending or sarcastic - I like you guys**

I’m skeptical of Midcos expansion into the TC market. Since I live here I can offer a glimpse. It’ll be very hard for them to compete, and frankly if I’m St Thomas i wouldnt go with them. St Thomas has got the connections to get them a larger platform. I love everything midco does for the teams but they are very much Dakota centric when it comes to college athletics. It’s great for the Dakota schools, but outside of them a contract with Midco doesn’t do much.
As for the UND contract, it is what it is. At the end of the day the team with the better record and success is going to be aired ahead of the lesser. In this case SDSU games, given their success, will always take priority over UND and USD unless one of us proves we are worthy of the spotlight.

There are far more media options in the cities, but until there is any interest in St Thomas athletics I think Midco would be a fantastic opportunity. It's going to take a long time until that program is taken seriously up there. I lived in the cities until recently and there was just no buzz about them at all. Maybe once their transition is done, they get new facilities, and they are potentially fighting for tourney bids things will change.

Doesn't help that the Highland neighborhood immediately around St. Thomas generally seems to hate that school. If Midco is actually going to be on Comcast in the Twin Cities, and especially if they get picked up by other broadcasters (which Midco is working on) I think Midco would be perfectly fine long term as well. Games would be more accessible than Bally even, considering Midco's cheap streaming platform. St. Thomas would help to make Midco look more like a legit regional sports network (already there from a quality perspective). It's interesting that they recently pulled their arena proposal from the Ford site plans, prior to a public meeting about it (plans for a new arena were not well received).

Good news - based on Midco's schedule, it looks like Midco will do what it can to broadcast away games for both SD schools in addition to UND. Your game vs Montana is scheduled to air on Midco! www.midcosports.com/schedule/

I believe they did this last time we played at Montana several years ago. It's the local Montana broadcast mirrored on Midco. Great to see them make this an option. Plenty of people can't or won't figure out the streaming options.
