One has to wonder if ORU keeps getting the attention and doing well how long they’ll stick around the Summit. They already left once. But I'm assuming you mean leaving for a GOOD conference? The Sun Belt is out, since they don't play football. Maybe WAC or MVC? Seems like the MVC is done expanding at the moment. Maybe I'm wrong. The WAC might be a good fit with the school profile (Southwest privates). Baseball is another high-profile sport they seem to care about, and the Summit isn't great there. The WAC makes some sense, actually. And they are aggressively expanding. I mean it’s not really a secret that the schools outside of the Dakotas would jump ship for an invite to any remotely better conference. Heck, if USD was invited to the MVC im sure even we’d jump for it. But as you said there aren’t many desirable conferences that make sense for them. Side note: the dynamic of the Dakota centric conference may be shifting a bit. All 4 Dakota schools lost last night, and not just by a few points.

So they are splitting up the UND vs NDSU men's and women's games to a Friday and Saturday. I'm guessing the Showdown series is the same.

Starting to look like a two-team race, but I'll add the standings after we have all played a few more games. We can only go up from here....

I just looked at the current ESPN+ schedule, and added that to a couple of listings in the previous post... I think that sometimes games get picked up that aren't yet listed, too. Often anything being broadcasted by Midco.

The NDSU vs UND men get better of schedule time but here again it will be competing against hockey that night and student body. I don't understand this scheduling one of your biggest rivals scheduled between Christmas and New Year's not to mention there will be hockey game at same time. How is this good for Summit Conference and it's just not us but all the conference on their schedule. Then we have Women's game on New Year's Eve Day how many people you're going to get out for a game at this time. It will be amazing to get over 1,000 people at the games. This mirror schedule for the conference is just killing basketball attendance and following in the Summit conference. I believe they need to work with the schools and find schedule that would boost attendance and following of basketball. I look back to Division II era we had more attendance then than we have now. I could show tv coverage of the games then when arenas were full. Especially when we were playing one Dakota Schools and now today its fine if we get 1500 in the stands. I just thought i would mention here this something needs to be addressed and it's for the good of all schools and fans for all the schools in the Summit conference.

I'm pretty sure USD also drew more fans in the D2 era than today. A lot has changed. Proximity of the opponent, TV coverage, alternate entertainment options. I'm sure we aren't alone on this trend.

It's pretty lame that in order to watch a game in person, you have to miss a game. Most of the time, the only way to see both live is to stay home and watch on TV or stream the games, correct?

Not 100% sure how to describe what is going on with ranking the conference on the men's side. Clearly ORU, UST and SDSU lead both the NET ranking and standings... but outside of ORU I think it's pretty wide open. It will just come down to matchups, like teams with size and physicality in the paint are our kryptonite, for example.

There are a lot of discrepancies between the standings and the NET rankings here. The middle of both lists is still pretty wide open.

Similar to the Summit women, the top team is undefeated and far removed from the rest of the pack in NET ranking. Parity below the top rules the day here, too.

What are the odds UND sticks with Sather after this season? 4th season and no signs of improvement seems like a good reason to cut ties but idk how much they care about the non-hockey and football programs in Grand Forks.
