Couple minutes until halftime in Grand Forks. Sac State up 28-14. They have completely carved up the UND defense in the first half. 4 drives, 4 TDs, 309 total yards with 200 of those on the ground. The QB for Sac State is mobile with 105 yards on 8 rushes. I know that UND has a bad defense, but this is intriguing. We haven't seen anything like this Sac State offense yet this year.

I like to think we are a far more fundamentally sound defense than und. That is ultimately necessary for stopping any option offense. Sac st is quick though. I'm not sure they are as physical as the top end of the mvfc but they have speed.

The game is turning into a shootout - I’m comforted that we held ND’s O to three points.

Sacramento State it is. They showed a high flying offense, but man both of these defenses were so bad today. Seems like a good matchup for us.

We get sac st. Better be ready to defend a running qb. I'm sure our staff was in Grand Forks scouting

Fly back to Cali then back to the Dakotas. That's the luxury we get to avoid by having a good regular season.
Some new blood. I'll take it.

New blood is good. We deserve it. Looks to me like this will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.
How many times can Carson Camp be brought up this week? I'm sure this will be a weird trip for him.

Carson had a really good game that day.

The FCS should force the Pioneer League and any other non-scholarship league to either offer scholarships or go D-II. Even if it means offering no more scholarships than D-II does. After Drake's totally expected dismantling, it should be obvious that the winner of that league is taking the spot of a much stronger, competitive and deserving team from the playoffs.

After Drake's totally expected dismantling, it should be obvious that the winner of that league is taking the spot of a much stronger, competitive and deserving team from the playoffs. That won't happen, if only because of the Ivy League. The Ivy League is non-scholarship and they do fine. They opt out of the playoffs but I'm sure they'd be competitive if they participated. NCAA won't hand out an uneven mandate because of that. Maybe they can revoke autobids for non-scholarship leagues. Make them earn a bid. It really is silly that the Pioneer is viewed as truly being D1. Drake lost to a NAIA team this year. The league record against the rest of the FCS is wildly terrible. They went 1-18 this year against other FCS competition and lost several games to NAIA/D2 schools. Does not make sense to invite them to the playoffs, or even to count wins against them as qualifying D1 victories on a playoff resume.

The combined first round scores for MVFC teams (UND, Youngstown, S. Illinois, and NDSU) against their 4 respective opponents from other conferences was 176-52.
