Saturday August 27th - anytime from 11 AM to 2 PM For years people have complained about the lack of good exposure at Scheels. This is your chance to give them a reason to stock USD items. Get there if you can and tell an USD grads that you know to stop in and refresh their wardrobe. www.usdcoyotes.com/sports/news/release.asp?release_id=6506

Great idea to have this event at Scheels. Also noticed that our so called flagship station (B 102.7)is supposed to be broadcasting live from Scheels on Saturday from 10AM to 1PM. Went to both the B102.7 website and their facebook page and guess what - no mention of the open house. Learfield, take note.

Would like to see something like this at Hibbets in Vermillion and/or Dunham's in Yankton.

Speaking of Hibbett's, great store. Great store for Vermillion and judging from how many people I know who have bought stuff there and how busy that store is at times I would guess they are doing well business-wise.
We buy all our baseball stuff there, school shoes, football shoes, and some athletic wear. between all the baseball organizations in and around Vermillion we actually bought them out of baseballs this year. I was talking to the girl there and she said corporate had no idea demand would be this strong.
I won't be anywhere near Sioux Falls this weekend but if I was I would stop in at Scheels's. Encourage all Yotes in the SF area to stop in and show Scheel's the kind of support USD has. Buy them out of all USD stuff.

Went to Scheels today for the new gear launch.
I am really proud of the way the Athletic Department is getting aggressive and trying to accelerate the USD brand. Seeing all of the AD staff, Coaches, Players, and Cheerleaders there was really great. Hope the event turned out well for everyone involved and a lot of merchandise was sold to give Scheels incentive to continue carrying new Yote gear.
I will say I was disappointed with the display. SDSU still has a much wider variety of gear available. Example: There were no new hats for sale with the new logo. There was also nothing new in children's sizes - so that was a disappointment. It was a start and hopefully there will be more variety ordered in the future.
Both SDSU and USD should be all over Scheels for Corporate sponsorship. They gave our rivals to the North (NDSU) $5 million. The Sioux Falls store I would think does as much volume as the Fargo store.
Anyway, it looked like a decent turnout.
Go Yotes!

Great to see the AD staff making the push. Hopefully they expand the selection. I was really really disappointed in the selection of Coyote gear last year I visited. In fact I believe they had about 5 items. It was beyond pathetic.
BTW, Scheels started in Fargo and still has their corporate office located in Fargo.

I was tere today as well. Pi$$ on Scheels. I am done with them. I couldn't even buy a polo/golf shirt with the USD logo. The USD people jammed the store full of customers and most walked away angry about selection.
From here on out, if the USD Bookstore has a good selection, they will get 100% of my business. I told the floor manager that my wife and I drove over to buy USD clothing plus a couple pair of shoes. As a result of their absolute shitty selection, I bought the shoes elsewhere. I am done with them
KUDO's to all athletic staff and players there though. Good jib peeps.

So there were no hats with the new logos, no children's clothes, and no polos with the new logo. So what exactly did they have there? Sounds like a pile of crap if you ask me! What a joke.

OK, hold on just a little. There were polo shirts, but they sold out really quick. I think I got the last large and ordered an XL too. They had a guy standing there taking orders. Sorry if you missed him.
No hats wasn't good, but I think part of the issue has to do with logo approval. I'm not sure the whole logo trademark stuff is done. Stuff is getting approved as fast as possible. More merchandise will be out there.
I was there by 11am, there were lots of Yote fans. Even people who drove up from Vermillion and Sioux City.
While I was checking out two SDSU people walked in - boyfriend girlfriend. I said, hey, if you walk 30 feet that way you can update your wardrobe with better colors. The guy laughed, the women gave a look of death to me.
Let's not totally poo poo Scheels here. Otherwise, why is David S doing so much work to get them to stock our stuff. Give them a second chance, otherwise, they can just say I told you so and keep that shrine to SDSU they have there.

I was also there Saturday and I also stopped by Scheels this morning to look at what had sold and what was still there after the first day.
The higher-end branded items - Under Armour pull-overs and jackets and Nike Polos sold really well. There were a lot of T-shirts left over. I don't blame people for not buying those. They were cheap looking and had the appearance of something an elementary school would have.
Scheels and the Argus Leader both are worth continuing to work with and trying to massage for more exposure. Both are businesses and respond to market forces (both good and bad.) The exposure you get at both is worth a lot of money in advertising dollar equivalency.
The Argus is getting a little better (Thanks Mick!) and that has been really great to see.
I would anticipate that sales of logo items will not pick up in a huge way until USD basketball gets rolling and they are in the Summit Tournament in SF. Like it or not this is a bandwagon jumping world and that will give the casual fan a reason to go buy some Coyote Red merchandise. Until then I think these promos will just tap the die-hard, core Coyote fans that were buying items already.
Better days ahead. We should all feel really good about the effort the Athletic Department is putting in to make things better.

Wasn't able to make then 2 hour drive to Sioux Falls, but did listen to B102.7 on line and they did do a nice job with the live reports from Scheels. I believe the event, while maybe not perfect, did create a lot of exposure for the Yotes.

I watched Sportsweb live this afternoon. The players had some great shirts and hats with the new logo. However, last week Scheels and the bookstore had nothing. When are we going to get acess to this new gear?

I am looking for coyote infant clothing. I live in the Black Hills. I didn't find anything at either Scheel's or Target. Does anyone else have any suggestions? If not, I will consider going out of my way to the Empire Mall on my next trip to Brookings for our next home game, or on-line.

If you end up on the east side of the state, Jack and Charlie's in the Empire Mall has some Yote infant clothing (they also have some of that blue stuff but we don't want to go there...). Use the Red Robin entrance on the northeast side. For Yote fans, if you haven't been there it is worth checking out.
