I have grown extrememly tired and frustrated with all the losing this year. Isn't the last year of transition supposed to be the best?
Our biggest rival SDSU is a combined 10-0 or something like that with their basketball teams in the Summit. NDSU just won the national title in football and already have a NCAA tourney big in basketball but what does USD have to show for it? Absolutely nothing and it's frustrating and I don't give a crap how many people are tired of my writing.
Our womens team which has shown the most promise is now looking to be mediocre in the Summit and that was are #1 thing to hold our hats on. Now they lose to UMKC and slip below .500 in the Summit Our mens team is awful and our football team is or at least was choke artists.
I could not be more frustrated than I am today with how things are progressing on the field.
Or course most will call me the problem totally ignoring what really matters.
When is this going to end? Most will probably say we are succeeding in transition. Not the case this year.

Be patient. A lot of us in Jackrabbit land know pretty much how you feel. We had some pretty tough years too. Remind yourself by going back and reading the old threads over on our board. Some things went better, but I also think that some things went worse for us.

Maybe it's time to find a new school to cheer for.

Not sure why you expected things to get better during the transition. The last year of transition should probably be the worst year. It's tough to recruit players when there isn't anything to play for.
I've said this over and over and I'll say it again. Be patient.
Or you could just cheer for SDSU, come to SDSU games, and donate to SDSU. That would be ok too.

Congrats to the Bison - we like hosting defending national champions in the Dakota Dome

Bisonator,
Thanks for posting that because all Coyote fans, players and coaches should be reminded of what our peers are doing quite often. If the Bison are winning championships I would expect a playoff birth within no more than about 3 years. I expect a NCAA tourney bid for mens and womens basketball both within 5 years.
People get tired of me bringing up what NDSU and SDSU are doing so thanks for taking that burden off my shoulders this time around.

cf, You like to research issues, (and to your credit, I think your have some ability in this area) can you tell us how the Coyote athletic budget compares with NDSU, SDSU, Montana, UNI and other top FCS football powers? Money isn't everything but it is a huge factor for top programs at the BCS and FCS levels.

If the budget is not there than maybe USD should haved stayed D2 and competed with the likes of Minot State and Minnesota Moorehead. If that is not the case than I don't want to hear it because USD knew full well what they were getting into. Budget is not an excuse and even if it is, than I want the USD admin to come out and say that we don't expect to compete with NDSU and SDSU because of having too small of a budget. Lets not just put things in the open because it just might be convenient. We need the truth with everything.
USD should compete with who they consider their peers. They say their peers are SDSU and NDSU so they need to pony up.

I was at this game (the guy standing in the bison student section with a RED COYOTE jacket) NDSU is light years ahead of us when it comes to fan support. Their crowd was incredible. I can only assume the financial support from alum and fans follows this.

To quote cf: USD should compete with who they consider their peers. THEY say their peers are SDSU and NDSU so THEY need to pony up.
Who the hell are the THEY? Does Jim Abbott have some sort of secret stash? Most serious supporters of Coyote athletics have increased their financial support. And, some just complain we aren't giving enough.

Somebody was asking about budget. What I am going to show you may shock (some of) you. Source: ope.ed.gov/athletics/The list literally follows geography, from north to south. This is from the 2010-11 academic year. University of North Dakota - $17,388,012 North Dakota State University - $15,351,245 South Dakota State University - $13,127,986 University of South Dakota - $8,551,777There's your smoking gun.

USD also has a smaller sports offering than the rest of the schools, but still, yeah, our athletic budget is pathetic.
