SDSU didn't deserve to be on the court tonight. Terrible defense and very poor shooting. That's what that type of environment will do to players. SDSU never felt comfortable.

Obviously on a neutral floor SDSU wins this game 8 or 9 out of 10 times. But this wasn't a neutral floor and the season to date can be thrown out the window when these two teams go at it.

Congrats to the Yotes! Especially to Boots, that weave offense was perfect and the match zone (that the Rabbits knew so well, was very effective). I know the Rabbits shot poorly, however, they had no flow in the game until late 2nd half, mostly due to the defense. They were basically outcoached tonight Big Time!
Go Yotes!
And the beat down in football (2012) will be no UPSET, like tonight's game was!
Go Yotes!!

Great game. Now let's see that type of performance by both the team and the fans when NDSU comes to town this weekend.

Congrats on the win. It is amazing what can happen in rivalry games. As CoyoteFan observed above, no way that SDSU shouldn't have won this game. But the perfect storm of events, and attitudes prevailed last night.

Congrats on the win USD fans. You guys came to play and took it to us. I thought we'd be able to weather the storm and make a comeback but you guys made the plays when you needed to in the end.

I was wrong on the score but I'm trying to figure out if I was right about the "Big 3". Westbrook and Krogman played great and Guris played a good game. He didn't light up the scoreboard(7 points) but he had 11 rebounds and played solid D. The senior leadership showed up in this game. USD had 46 of their 72 points and 13 of their 35 rebounds came from seniors. I think SDSU only had 6 of their 68 points from their senior. USD was just hungrier that SDSU was. They played more aggressive and wanted it more. You would think that this type of thing shouldn't happen but it happens quite often in sports. Teams that are "underdogs" win. There are several factors like expereince, home court advantage, hunger, etc... This was an example of all 3 of those things.

Congratulations to the USD men and coaching staff!!!!! That was a much needed win. I was wondering if they interviewed Naggy and a couple of the sdsu players after the game? After the SDSU game at Brookings they interviewed our players and coach Boots and broadcast that over several media outlets. Does any body have links to the post game interviews for this game???

TV mentioned something on Twitter last night that he wasn't allowed to get video of the post-game interviews. It seems like he wasn't able to hear them as well and the video/audio would have been bad. Edit: Here is TV's tweet: The SDSU-USD presser was held in a practice gym with no PA ... therefore no video from me. Audio would have been worthless. Sorry

Thanks 91jack for a great post. In addition to your congratulatory comments on the players, I think kudos should also go to the coaching staff and crowd. The coaching staff deserves credit for helping to prepare the players and the crowd deserves recognition, well, for obvious reasons.
I know our players didn't suddenly grow taller, leap higher or run faster only for this game. The difference was in the mental aspect of the game. Now, if we can only bottle this stuff for a few more games at least!

In the Summit League and DI generally, there is always a post-game press conference. On occasion, a losing coach will decline but that's a rare exception. The Argus Leader's Terry Vandrovec videos the press-conferences and posts them on the internet -- linked to the Argus sports page. Most schools have a room with good lighting, an audio system and a curtain background with the school's logo and perhaps the name of a sponsor. A post-game press conference was held after the USD/SDSU game but in a practice gym without a PA system. So Vandrovec couldn't get serviceable video with the camera he uses. (Check his Twitter account and you can read what he wrote.)
