Most of us are probably guilty of looking at this year's brutal schedule and grouping Colgate in with the cupcakes and directional no-names of recent non-conference schedules. I think caution is definitely in order. Yes, Colgate is a non-scholarship program of the Patriot League, but they're perennial conference contenders and return 15 starters. And don't let "non-scholarship" fool you. Colgate made the 2003 I-AA title game. www.gocolgateraiders.com/documents/2012/7/26/2012FBProspectus.pdfColgate had a tough week-one loss. They jumped to and squandered a 10-point lead over Albany (preseason pick to finish atop the Northeast Conference...and also moving next season to the CAA, which is home to Maine, New Hampshire, James Madison, Delaware, Richmond, William & Mary, etc). I trust we'll be up and focused for the home opener. We're too young to look past anyone. Go Yotes!

This will be a tougher team than some of the NAIA's or even Drake but a game the Yotes should win handily.

Game one is in the books, and now we focus on getting our first win of the year. People have tried to parallel this loss to 2nd half folds in years past, but I don't think they are similar at all. Although we did have the lead, and we held them on their 2 point conversion when they got to 22, the game was lost in the trenches.
We simply didn't have the horsepower to move out guys, or hold our position. Colgate brings a challenge to us, because this is a big game for them. We are a scholly D-1 program in on of the best, if not the best conferences in FCS. This is not a slouch team. Our guys have to come together, and I think they will.
We need a big crowd, because this is a big game. We HAVE to win this game. No ifs ands or butts about it.
I say we rebound in a big way

How we gonna have a big crowd when 1500 tickets to this game are sitting on countertops in North Dakota going unused?

How we gonna have a big crowd when 1500 tickets to this game are sitting on countertops in North Dakota going unused? I know what you are saying but we have to move forward. I am disappointed in our fan base and lack of enthusiasm. Saturday is supposed to be gorgeous with perfect temps and conditions to tailgate and take in some football. Although we lost, it was totally awesome just getting back on the field and playing Saturday. Let's have some fun.

Not sure if you guys are aware of this, I am sure you are. But when the tickets to the NDSU/USD game came in the mail with the Colgate tickets, they were accompanied by a letter and a self addressed envelope asking me to return my colgate tickets if I didn't plan on using them. I promptly returned them and I'm sure a lot of other NDSU people did also. So hopefully there won't be too many unused tickets for your game this weekend.

Lest we forget, those tickets are still considered "sold" as well. That is not a bad thing. Plus, if they get "re-sold" that will be a great thing. Why whine about something so insignificant. When we have 1500 fans that are clamoring for tickets to get into the Dome, then we can start complaining. Get with the program.

I think the letter that went out with the combo NDSU - Colgate tickets said that any Colgate tickets returned by NDSU fans would be donated to various charitable groups.

Oh Eddie, I understand completely what is going on and I have no desire to get with what this program is doing. IMO this season, which was supposed to be a crowning achievement in the transition to D1, has turned into nothing less than a total fiasco. This hairbrained idea of playing NDSU in Sioux Falls was just stupid. Couple that with an idiotic decision to package the Colgate tickets with that game and, well, this is what you get, 1500 tickets sold to people who have no interest in even attending the Colgate game. Yet you tell me they are "sold". They weren't sold, and they certainly can't be resold. A better idea would have been to increase the allotment of tickets to NDSU and charged them double the price, keep the Colgate tickets and sell them as usual. The best idea would have been to do nothing at all and just play the NDSU game at home, where it should be. At this point I don't even care about the Sanford $$. Guess what? They were going to give it to us anyways, just like they gave money to SDSU and NDSU with no strings like this attached. We should have been like Minnesota, who declined $$ for TCF Stadium rather than give in to Sanford's demands. In the long run moves like this hurt the program growth, and overall revenue increases, for short term rewards. This whole thing has been bungled from the beginning and ever since then the athletic dept has been chasing there a** trying put a positive spin on it. I'm not buying it. We look cheap and stupid and not ready to be on this level. What I really want to know is how many of those ticket packages were sold to people with Sioux Falls addresses. I suspect not too many and I am prepared to greatly disappointed by the USD turnout and, in fact, a little humiliated by the NDSU fan base on Oct 20. Finally, I have included a link to the USD website where the football schedule is listed. Note the home games are outlined in a shade. Guess which game isn't outlined? Uh huh, even the athletic dept admits Oct 20 is a road game. www.goyotes.com/sports/m-footbl/sched/sdak-m-footbl-sched.html

Oh my god! Do you really think that if you complain long enough and loudly enough that somehow the NDSU game will move back to the Dome? Get over it - the decision has been made! Get in your car and go support the Yotes!

Yes. I do think that if enough people complain that stuff like this will not happen again. If nobody voices their opinion then nothing will happen. Kinda like voting, ya know.

I'll also add that respone smacked of the kind of responses Coyote Fan gets. Well, he deserves his responses cause he's kinda out there. I, however, am not on the fringe and as this season drew closer and closer I have heard more and more unhappiness about all this crap going on.

This thread has assumed a bummer tone. I'm excited for a beautiful day of tailgating and watching our young team further develop in preparation for the MVFC slate. From a revenue standpoint, given the NDSU "ghost" tickets sold (I've heard numbers much, much lower than 1,500), I'm guessing we'll be just fine if not better off than we would've been if Colgate were sold in traditional fashion. I don't have the confidence in our fanbase yet to suggest this game would've been close to a sell out. I'm guessing anyone who wants a ticket Saturday will still be able to walk right up to the window and buy one.
