^ the kid seems like a good twitter follow, as well. This might be addition by subtraction? Other than the fact that he also is tasked with SD HS sports. I guess we will see. The one thing I will say that was a huge advantage Mick had was perspective. Knowledge of the NCC days from a long stint. Times change, though. This kid seems pretty perceptive. He should pick it up fast. I bet KWSN interviews him weekly, as well.

Mick is a good person who didn't deserve what happened to him. He was never a bandwagon fan, which I appreciated, and in my estimation he was very good at his trade. Now I have an e-Edition subscription and I make an effort to click at least once on every Yote story, wherever I see it. Like it or not, that is what is measured and thus rewarded.

It was a good, informative article. I wonder if he likes being referred to as "The kid"?

It was a good, informative article. I wonder if he likes being referred to as "The kid"? Well, I doubt Mick liked being referred to as “Eeyore” either, but here I am, a random anonymous poster with opinions... My impression is that he is quite young, by sports writer standards. Doesn’t mean anything anything else but that. I’ll reserve judgement until I see and hear more from him, but he does seem to be a little more social media-savvy.

I dogged on Mick more than most, but he was still a good guy and never wanted him to lose his job. I also did not want that to mean the Argus would be limiting to a degree their coverage on USD. I have not been a subscriber to the AL in my life, but would read certain articles online so I am partly to blame. My work gets the AL so I would usually read it there. I do agree the SCJ and P&D have had better coverage, but Hoeck seems to be writing less Yotes articles lately as well. I also enjoyed participating in the chat when work allows and hope they can keep that going in the future either with Brian or possibly Zim on occasion.

The Argus-USD relationship is in a vicious cycle. Argus doesn't cover USD because USD fans don't subscribe to the Argus. USD fans don't subscribe to the Argus because the Argus has crappy coverage of USD. The paper business is obviously in a downward spiral and the Argus is definitely feeling it. IMO, they should be looking to expand their subscriber base, not limit it.

I think right now the university and fans should be targeting the SC area and giving them their business. USD is their closest D1 school, we should take advantage of that, and we should be trying to support Yankton more. One thing to remember about the Argus, and SF as a whole, is that they only care about SF. SDSU and USD will always have a presence in the city with programs. But once Augustana starts the process to D1 USD will be non existent to the Argus, and SDSU will start to feel it in the press too. Tbh I’d say we are in a better position than them, SC news outlets have been picking up coverage a lot the last few years because of some of the success we’ve had. I say as fans let’s go to the places that want to have our business, and let SDSU worry about the Argus.

I’m a little surprised the Howling Pack doesn’t do Lunch With U In Sioux City. Not a bad idea. Wonder what the turnout would be like? Any Sioux Citians in the audience?

I know several Sioux City-ians that I attended the U with, and have met since college. None of them still live there. They are all either in Minneapolis, Sioux Falls or Omaha.

A literal tweet about the Argus Leader Chat. Let's show up today - you aren't doing anything at 3:00 anyway.
