He makes it, perhaps unintentionally. KSU at the line now with the one point lead. Can't be more than a couple seconds left.

Good fight. Chemistry is building. Norris is impressing me. Love the Norris/Gruis pick and roll.

That was disappointing. Half court shot is no good, and we lose by 2. Moral victories and all that jazz, but I really wanted this one. These close crushing losses are making me crazy. No 3's in the second half, Bos went 0-7 from the field. A little give on either of those and we take this one.

Last FG for the Yotes was at 5:53. Really stinks that we went so cold. KSU's last field goal was at 4:09, definitely left the door wide open for us. Green Bay is looking darn good, so we have a chance to bring in a real signature victory at home on Saturday. After having three great looking wins in a row slip through our fingers that one would be a great one to take.

Great battle Coyotes! We do have to learn to finish games and I think this team will. Some great games against some quality opponents have been extremely close and these players have only played a few games together. GO YOTES!!!

I was at the game. Thought the Coyotes played great and am really encouraged for the start of League play. Thought Norris did a great job running the game and Gruis was the best big man on the court. Looking forward to this year and great job by the Yotes!!

Trey Norris has impressed me as well lately. I wasn't impressed after seeing him against UVU. Perhaps I was being harsh, or maybe he and the rest of the team have found out how to work together, but these few games he has impressed me. Another player that has impressed me is Tyler Flack. I don't remember hearing much from him last year, but he might be a sudden emerging star for us like Bos was last year (who, by the way, has continued to impress this year, aside from tonight's game). About the only player I haven't been satisfied with so far is Thoseby, but once he comes around we should be a pretty dangerous squad.
After that first Wyoming game this season was looking like a long one, but now I'm definitely feeling this season is going to be much more exciting than the last two. I have to wonder if Joey James is doing a great job breathing new life into the program, or if this new cast of characters is making him look good.

I was pleased to see Thoseby play with some confidence today. This was the first game where he looked like he belongs.
I'd like to see more time for Larson, as I think he has a high basketball IQ. The sky is the limit as far as potential for Flack, but he makes a lot of bone headed mistakes. I would say the same for Rowson.
I was curious why we didn't see anything from Robertson last night. I thought he was coming around this season.
Absent the presence of a truly dominate big man (see Benson from Oakland), this is a PG league and I think we finally have the right kind of guy in Norris.

Watched it start to finish. Bos had an uncharacteristically off night, and it was probably the difference. I loved how we were the team throughout most of the game playing with confidence. K-State appeared, at times, young and rattled. Norris and Gruis were excellent. Flack did some nice things, but remains a bit unpredictable. The second-half three from the top of the key, early in the shot clock, comes to mind. Thoseby looks pretty good in the box score, but I still think he's getting comfortable and, perhaps, pushing the issue a bit. Coming into the season, I'd thought of Thoseby as more of an outside shooter. It seems he's been trying to create through penetration, and it just makes me a bit nervous. It doesn't seem his strong suit. I can't wait to see him have a breakout game from beyond the arc.
We had 18 turnovers and shot less than 30 percent from three. That's disappointing, but encouraging in the sense that we were still right there at the end against a Big 12 opponent. Over the last several years, I've sort of chalked us up to being a generally athletically inferior program capable of winning if we catch fire from three and catch a team on a cold night. We're showing signs of being far more dynamic than that.

What more would you expect Gruis to do? Did you watch the game? Did you listen to the post game interview with Bruce Weber? Gruis battles game after game. There is a reason he gets double teamed.

Joey James was at the MUC tonight for the finals kickoff breakfast, got to talk to him for a bit. I thought it was pretty cool that he is getting out and introducing himself to just about everyone who walked in the door and asking them to come to the Green Bay game, he seems to be really trying to get the students involved (also razzed this girl for a bit because she was wearing a KSU shirt, which was pretty funny). I mentioned that last night's game was very exciting, and he was deeply apologetic that he wasn't able to win it for me. I was very impressed, and have a hard time seeing Boots ever doing something like this.
It seems we have a very dedicated man on hand who is dying to be our next head coach. Wait and see how the conference slate plays out, but I'm starting to think it wouldn't be such a bad thing if James gets the job.

Is it safe to say James recruited most of the current kids on the roster? Don't know how much time Boots was spending out on the road recruiting. Would be curious to know.

Huh? I have no criticism of Gruis. You completely misread my post. Gruis is a known commodity. My commentary was on the "newer" faces. No doubt, Gruis played great at KSU.
