Up in the Twin Cities you have Minny, Iowa, Wisconsin, NDSU, SDSU, UND, and all the D2 schools nosing around for recruits. Chicago is a much larger city and we've had success there and have established some recruiting pipelines.

We recruited Chicago under the Ed M. days. We have retained the staff that recruited there then. WE have maintained our connections with coaches in staffs in that area. You do not reinvent the wheel. It is a process and it takes time to build relationships with coaches and high schools.

Even if we started recruiting MSP harder, you might not see the fruits of that labor for a couple years.

Apparently a parent isn't sold on USD. His brother is/was an All-American at Northwestern. Everybody feels confident they will sign him in a few days.

At one time, didn't Meierkort have strong connections in Minnesota that came as a result of the team camps that he started? I was thinking the vast majority of those teams came from Minnesota, and the cities in particular. If so, many of the current staff were on that start. Names like Tyler Evans comes to mind. I don't have the memory or retention many of our posters do, but I was thinking this was the case. Anyone remember?

With VanGinkel signing his NLI yesterday, we now have 31 recruits joining an already gifted team with a huge upside. Time to get after it in the weight room, the film room, and get ready for spring ball and fall camp. There is a whole new Coyote team being remade from the ground up as we speak. This fall is going to be a blast!

So in the end we had 32 commits, and only one bailed on us? That's fantastic. Imagine what kind of recruits we'll get once these already great ones start taking us to the playoffs. We're only a year away, at most (I think we'd be in this year if our schedule wasn't brutal).

No, I can think of three. We lost Darrius Shepherd to NDSU, Xavier Rowe to Western Illinois and Ryan Smith to Miami (Ohio). All three were publicly committed at one time. Still not bad.

I got the impression from a couple comments by the staff that there were others they thought they would get, but didn't. Also, I am not entirely convinced that we are done. I got the impression from one person that they had hopes for a possible late QB commit.

Goes to show that our coaches are always on the recruiting trail. Woodward sounds like a pretty good addition, we needed more depth at QB.
