9:26 to go USD is down by 58-48. With as exciting as the Women's game was I was paying more attention to that game than I thought I would. USD was down by at least 13 at one point.

I have watched a little of the game on ESPN3. It looks like the entire point spread can be attributed to points in the paint from the minutes I have watched. I think this is to be expected and may not be anything to worry about too much this early in the season during OOC games.

68-54 with just over 6:00 to go. Fading a bit but I am sure Nebraska's size and rebounding is difficult to overcome.

FINAL
South Dakota 58 Nebraska 66
Good effort by the Yotes tonight. Unfortunately I could not find the game anywhere on TV or on the internet so I can't speak of things by viewing. I think it's fair without the benefit of the naked eye to call Westbrook a stud. Other than that it appeared the effort was good.
My favorite part of the game tonight was Mr. Dave Boots post game interview, what a great attitude he is developing and really has been for the last couple of years. He gets this whole D1 thing, he gets that it's a different game and gets the fact that expectations are higher now than ever. He said that he wasn't happy to just come in and make it a close game. Swain was praising the effort and Boots did not deny the good effort but made it a point that they can compete with these teams and possibly win these types of game. LOVE IT, that is exactly what we need. Now I don't think many expected the Yotes to pull out a win but I think it's important to point out that without Dave expecting to win, it's going to be very difficult for the team to believe in itself to win either. He was not satisfied to come out with an 8 point loss eventhough most would say the effort was good and the result was acceptable. It's no wonder that USD went 11-1 in the Great West and won the regular season and tourney titles. With the no excuses mentality, if it continues, we are going to witness a fun team to watch and one that is going to be competitive in the Summit right out of the gate. We are going to have many of these players back for 2011-2012.
That was such a refreshing change in attitude from the whole vibe of the football season to date.
YES!!!

Just got back from Leo's where the game was on. It was televised on ESPN pay per view. Nebraska was not that good. Good size squad, but not that good. Their big man was a beast. The Yotes shot like crap. A better shooting night and we could have won this one. Still, the Yotes looked pretty athletic, pushed it up the floor pretty good and played hard. The Nebraska announcers were pretty impressed with USD. Made several statemements how this was a winning program and you could tell by the effort on the court. Also were impressed by our showing at Creighton last year. Said it was a tough place to play.
All in all, game one. Good effort, build from here.

Yote 53,
Did Westbrook look as good on TV as he sounded like he was good on the radio.

Maybe he is Russell Westbrook's younger brother.....that would be sweet.
From what I have heard, this was a pretty good performance for USD. Unfortunately, I was pretty busy and didn't get to see or listen to it.
I am a big surprised by the final score for two reasons - 1. I didn't know the Nebraska basketball team had it in them to score over 70 points. Wow, amazing new times for Nebraska basketball haha.
2. USD's offense scored over 60 points and it sounds like the Coyotes could've had more. Nebraska doing the classic give up defense for offense haha.
Okay, that's enough Husker bashing for me. It's good to see USD put up 60 plus points against a team that has some good height and has been a good defensive team the last two years.
Sounds like USD was a bit off shooting the long ball, and that can hurt with a guard heavy team, but it's the first game of the year and no exhibition games so that's not a surprise. Good showing by the offense.
Nebraska has some good height, so I figured that would give USD problems since they don't have that much height, so to keep it this close is a good sign as well.
Good thing the exhibition game is next against SD School of Mines on Wednesday haha.

I was at the game. We played alright. Like you guys said, the height factor killed us. Their 6'11, 310 pounder killed us. He would just get the ball and back his way into the basket. He had some descent moves for that big of a guy.
Our gaurds were all a little off. Our three point shooting was off for awhile and that really hurt. Westbrook missed probably his first 7 shots and caught on fire after that. He will be good. Out of the big guys, I was more impressed with Gruis. They are pretty skinny, but he seemed to come up with more boards and looked pretty descent for his first college game.
I really thought if we would have shot well, we would have won this game. Their bigs killed us, but we better get used to it for awhile at least. It would have been nice to have at least one exhibition game before this one.
