Two losing seasons in twenty five years does not equal a program that needs turning around. Sorry your last comment was il thought out OK let me rephrase "it took a Jackrabbit for USD to find success a the D-1 level"

So we'd be looking at a former SDSU coach/player and a head coach who worked at NDSU and went to UND. The only thing missing is someone with prior connections to USD.

The bunnies sure are getting riled up over the Hansen information...loving every minute of it.

Just checked over there (something I try to avoid). I had to laugh though. Why are there over 10 pages on that board about USD hiring an assistant coach? I get he played at SDSU but who cares?
Obsess much rabbit fans?

Go read the thread on SDSUFans.com and you will note that the few who chimed in (go ahead, count the number of actual posters) were focused on the lack of news and any formal confirmation that Hansen was hired by USD. I think that's a fair point and I commented on it. I think there is one Jackrabbit fan who is riled up but he's more riled up about having stated that there was no formal confirmation of the hiring of an assistant coach and then he got jabbed a little (perhaps deserved) by a couple of USD posters. So, one riled guy doesn't tell the story of a group of people (if it did, where does that leave posters on this board when, for example, Coyotefan tips over?)

According to a Terry Vandrovec tweet, Hansen is going to be a Yote BB assistant, and I quote "It once seemed unlikely that ex-SDSU star and assistant Hansen would work at the U, but not now."

Who wouldn't want to work for Craig Smith? If he can get a lateral movement from UNC to USD he would be doing what's in his career's best interest. The potential for growth is much higher for him here than at UNC. He'll be able to say he was part of USD's rise to prominence from the beginning, and gain some valuable experience working under a guy who is on his way up (I really have a feeling Craig Smith is going to be big someday, possibly even a head coach in a power conference). What's loyalty to the ag school going to get you anyways? I really am surprised to hear someone so ingrained in their program jump come to the in-state rival. Good career move, I could never work against my alma mater like that. I'll take him if Smith thinks he's good for the job, but I'd be feeling a bit betrayed if I was a State fan who cheered for the guy for about a decade.

There seemed to be 2 fans that didn't want to believe it and refused to believe the USD poster, but for the most part people seemed to be supportive of Austin's decision to work for USD. They had pretty good things to say about Austin from what I can tell. I know he was a great player, I hope he is as good of a coach. Does anyone know whether we have any more than just one scholarship to give out for next year. I hear that's all we have. Is that true?

It was time for him to move on from SDSU. The only reason i can think why he would quit UNC after a year was that he wanted to get back to South Dakota.

Again, I trust in Craig, but now I want to know what is to become of Lloyd Williams. The AD needs to find a job for this guy, in my humble opinion.
