I noticed Lage wasn't suited up. Does anyone know if he is injured or were they just sitting him out for the game?
Also, it seemed to me that the passes that Earl hit were a lot faster and more precise than last fall. Excited to watch that kid this year!

I heard on the radio that Lage, Vander Maten had muscle strains and kept out as precautions. Also share in the excitement of watching Earl this year, could be a big year for him. Like others have posted, Im hoping the OL can really move people so our RBs can rack up the yards, to open up passing lanes for what could be one of the better QBs in the conference.

I think folks are making too big of a deal out of the running game. The defense was quite open about saying they threw everything at the offense to stop the run. In that same respect, that means they weren't flexing their muscles on the pass defense. I am not saying any view should be reversed, just that I wouldn't get too high or too low on anything. This is a spring game after 16 practices and a great number of players on defense and the offensive line were shuffled through.
One thing I will say is that Earl can spin it. Man, when he has time he can throw as pretty of a ball as anybody. I thought his numbers were a little misleading as well - one INT was a receiver's fault and there were a couple pass breakups/drops/misses due to the refs refusing to throw a PI flag.
Donovan is back where he was last year; Shufford shows some explosion and wiggle, but he was clearly brought in to be a special teams specialist; Van Roekel is raw but has a TON of potential. Meyer, Kramer and Cooke will be contributors. I am really excited to see what JVM looks like with his whole focus on WR - I think he can be solid. Tacari Carpenter is the X factor. Hopefully he can live up to the hype set on him be the coaches.
I have very little concern with the run game, as long as the line continues to gel. Bouma and Roberts are back to their old form, Kilgore has VERY raw talent, but needs another birthday in the system. According to a couple players' comments at the Auction, the guy to really keep an eye on is Sanders. There was a lot of hyperbole being thrown around. Hopefully it is verified on the field.
I really want to see the TE position step up. I have seen very little to get excited about there yet.
The heart of this team will be the front 7. Iddings is a freak, Jacobs is strong, Praska is huge, and hopefully the JUCO DE coming in the fall will live up to the hype. At LB, Johnson and Lage will be studs again and there is plenty of depth and support around them. At DB, it is clear the guys can hit, now we just need to see them cover.

Anyone have an injury update on Saeger? Don't remember the type of injury he had, etc...

Saeger has groin strain, no surgery and will be fine for summer and fall.
