Not sure if this has been posted already, but JT at ESPN 99.1 in SF is twitting that Joe Glenn will be retiring next week. I hope him the best. He is a great person.

This has been a topic of discussion in the "An Interesting Discussion" thread. JT doesn't seem to have any source for this and all the main journalists covering USD have come out and said they have not gotten that impression. Joe says he will be at work next week. We'll know for sure by Thanksgiving I should think.

Interesting rumor but more often than not this type of information ends up being true more often than not. I can't really see someone just making that up out of thin air. It appears that no one is disputing this information but simply stating that they haven't heard anything or don't know. Joe hasn't gone out of his way to dispute this either other than saying that he will be back next week. Putting it that way makes it even more likely that this info is true. He could be saying that also for the simple reason that he would like to stay on longer but doesn't really know if he will be allowed to until the end of season interview would be done.

A bit more of an observation regarding this rumor. It seemed as if Glenn really took the loss to SDSU very hard as if he knew or seriously suspected that this opportunity would be his last at beating the Jacks. You know that he doesn't want to go out not beating the Jacks at least once. Being a Coyote as long has he has been that game meant alot to him. Maybe his reaction to the loss means nothing or maybe there is more to it than that.

Thanks for your dedication to USD Joe, I may have been a critic, but thanks none the less Joe for coming out of retirement to help out South Dakota.

Wow, you may want to apologize to him for some of your past posts. I think that is the first time you acknowledged he helped USD.

For those interested in attending the press conference it has been moved to the MUC Ballroom at 11. Must be expecting a large crowd.

I don't think you will find a more loyal USD alum than Joe Glenn, and Yoteforever comes close to being second. The guy worked cheap. To think he left toasty Arizona to come back up to SD for 145K, I don't think many would have done that. True sense of loyalty and he should have a great December and January back in Arizona chasing a little white ball. Good luck Coach Glenn.

Will the press conference be available on the coyote vision thing like the BB media day ones? Would like to see it but probably can't sneak away from work.

I snuck out of work to catch the conference. Joe touched on his career, thanked a great number of people, put in his endorsement for Wes to be the next head coach, had a few of those great Joe Glenn stories, then wrapped it up by leading the crowd in singing the school song. He plans on retiring here in Vermillion and won't miss a game. A great guy, just one of a kind. I know I will miss having him as this program's leader.

I watched the live stream on KSFY.com. Not sure if they recorded it or not.

For some reason (maybe I just like loyalty) the idea of Joe sticking around in Vermillion is a positive note. Maybe he can do some part-time work in the fundraising area or similar. I think he would be very good at that.
Perhaps down the road someone on this board can give us an update or two about his future?
