Put it in "Smack" because I'll probably get smacked but it kinda seems true. Merry Christmas!

He isn't banned, he just chooses not to post. Bring it up with him.
Plus, it doesn't really seem you ever post either SDfan, so what's your excuse?

Most of the "activity" CF created were just firefights that he created. The dropoff in activity is due to one thing, the end of football season. No matter what you all say, football is the #1 sport and drives most of the attention. Otherwise, if this were a basketball school, there would be much more activity in the basketball forum given the competition played so far.

I don't necessarily agree with the notion USD isn't a basketball school. From a personal standpoint, I think activity will pick up dramatically as this board grows and fans in general buy in to USD's conference situation i.e. the Summit League.
As for Coyote Fan, I'd say he's more than welcome to post on this board. However, I'd stop short of saying he's "driving" this board. His negativity and long-winded diatribes do nothing to promote meaningful conversation. In fact, it is my opinion they have the opposite effect.

As of today: Football 1617 posts. Basketball (Men and Women combined) 257 posts.
The trend isn't all that different from the old board. The Chuck Morrell thread in the football section got more posts than the Coyote Men vs Loyola Marymount, and an equal number of posts as the big win over Wyoming. The numbers speak for themselves, there is more interest in football.
Just so I don't come off as a football only guy (which I admittedly am) I plan on going to the EWU and Marymount games next week. While these games are good games, I can't wait for some Saturday night games.

We play basketball in a football facility. Football games, with tail gating, etc is becoming more of an event.
Hopefully we soon have a separate arena which I think will increase interest in basketball. (and volleyball).
I also believe that now having a conference home for all sports with local rivals along with nearing the end of transition will increase the interest in all sports.
PS - No better Christmas gift for the hard to buy person than some bright red Coyote apparel.

There was a lady at the Sioux City Scheel's yesterday who was looking at buying a UNI t-shirt for her son. I overheard her say that when he grows up he wants to play football there. I suggested the USD one sitting next to it.
With my siblings split between UI and ISU, I don't play favorites, their kids get Coyote Red.
Hopefully we can get the arena built soon so we can turn the Dakota Dome into a football only facility with permanent seating, etc. That's what I can't wait for. I agree the conference situation being settled is going to help all sports.

Agree 100% that getting a separate arena will allow the Dome to be upgraded to not only a great football facility, but also the premier indoor track facility in the region.

I do agree USD is a football school. I mean, everything does happen in the Dome and football dictates the basketball basically.
With a new arena, I think basketball and volleyball would see in uptick in attention, I hope.
Not saying we can't get the basketball threads going a little more. Thanks guys!
I am also guessing for some of the reason of inactivity is because everyone is getting ready for the holidays. That's part of my thing.

I guess I should clarify. When I said I think USD is also a basketball school, I meant it in the sense that we've enjoyed success. It's maybe not as popular as football, but it's not unnoticed. Compare to Duke, clearly a basketball school with a terrible football team to which no one pays attention. USD may be a "football school," but not in the extreme sense that Duke is a "basketball school."
My freshman year at USD was 2000, which essentially marked the beginning of my following of USD athletics. Over the last decade, USD football hasn't exactly set the world on fire. USD basketball, however, has enjoyed consistent success. While my view may not be shared by the majority, I do enjoy basketball as much as I enjoy football. And basketball will be even more enjoyable in a new arena.
