Here is my take. SEC had an advantage with so many of the top recruits in the south. Jim wanted to pry so he could get more high profile recruits. Let’s be honest, he is saying it is better for the players, (which I agree it is) but the thing is he is not recruiting these lower profile recruits who it really benefits. The SEC had a rule where they were unable to hold any camp 50 miles outside of their campus, advantage B1G. I think it is great that they are holding these camps for the unknown players, but Harbaugh is getting too much credit for this. 3 of the 4 other P5 conferences outside the B1G voted no to these camps. SEC and other conferences were trying to hold their advantage of a larger pool of higher recruits and the B1G and other northern schools wanted it lifted to gain an advantage in the South. SEC is lifting their ban on 5/29, but I do not think it will change much for them. I really don’t see much changing in the recruiting rankings over this whole fiasco, but the unknown recruits as well as smaller schools including USD benefit and that’s why I am for it.
