I'm sick to my stomach hearing of this news. Colette was about as classy as they come. My heart truly aches for Jim and their family.

Shocked and saddened to hear this news. Collette was a very public figure in Vermillion and at USD. I can recall seeing her cheering loudly at many basketball games this season, which ended just a month ago, so to hear of her very sudden passing is incredibly depressing. Many prayers and much support to the Abbott family.

I was at commencement this morning to witness my daughter-in-law receive her degree from med school ( proud father in law here ) and Jim was there and handled the ceremony, and passed out every diploma to every student who crossed the stage. ' If there is a better person to have this position than Jim Abbott, I want to know who it is? He and Colette indeed are the absolute best. I pray that Jim finds strength in the fact Colette was such an inspiration to many, and although she will no longer grace us with her presence at Coyote games and functions, her spirit undoubtedly will. Colette, may you rest in peace, and as you peer down upon us, never let us forget how important USD is to us all. May your spirit be with us always.
