Where has it been said that Simmons is returning kicks? Wasn't that Woodward who was moved to DB? Woodward moved to safety initially, but is now working at linebacker.

Correct unforseen circumstances like another qb jumping him. Another transfer. He is listed with them because he is eligible to play. I realy dont think they would have a qb returning kicks if he was "listed with the others" and the QB of the future. Barring unforeseen circumstances, Simmons is absolutely the quarterback of the future. He's young and raw, but he's special. He's also more than willing to put the work in to become the guy the coaches think he can be.

You do your homework and are knowledgeable about in depth issues that a lot of the other media do not take the time to do.

Lets agree to disagree. No one said he wasnt a hard worker. But I would imagine everyone at this level is a hard worker and will do what is asked of him. I am not putting him down in anyway I am just stating that many things can happen and others might be better when its "his time". We shall see what he does this year. There's nothing to go off of to say he is the future. Thats all no personal attack here.

IMO if he is the future than that future is September 1st, 2016. I for once want to hear, "he is the here and now". If he is on an even playing field with the more experienced quarterback then I give the nod to the younger guy. I would love to have the same guy under center for 4 straight years. Those wait til next year statement are a dime a dozen. Many times that next year is repeated 10 times over and the now never exists. I want to get to the point soon of saying the future is now and that means for Coyote football in general. I think Nielson could be the guy that turns the senseless future talk into the present talk.

Do you know how college football works? Do you understand the difference in physical ability between an 18 year old and a 23 year old?

At every level of college athletics, (P5, FCS, D2, D3), there are many guys that do the bare minimum as far as work ethic. So if the coaches say he is a hard worker, he must be going above and beyond.

Nice of you to say, yote14. But I am not the only one that puts in that kind of time. There are several guys who invest every bit as much as me.

Do you know how college football works? Do you understand the difference in physical ability between an 18 year old and a 23 year old? So in other words freshman quarterbacks never start. I get it now and I didn't know they changed that rule in the NCAA. Let's say Saeger starts and plays all year and is pretty much on an even level or even slightly below Simmons. The advantage of that is pretty much zero for 2016. If the so called future (which is hopefully the case) starts right away Simmons get valuable experience this year, probably improves more than the senior would through out the year and at worst the Coyotes don't really lose or gain much by Simmons starting this year. But how about 2017. If the Yotes future is realized now than next year the Yotes are much better off because of it. I realize the best guy should start period but if all other things are equal starting the younger guy is the direction to go in. Same goes for the other positions as well. I think by most accounts these three quarterbacks are likely neck and neck and neck. Certainly it doesn't seem as if one guy is very much above the others at all. That is why going with the younger option is the best way to go. With this type of offense that will be run I am all in on the quarterback that is the best at running the offense, makes good quick decisions and can get the ball most effectively to the guys in space to allow them the best chance to make a play. I think that type has to at least be a sound passing quarterback. If that is Saeger so be it and more power to him. I am actually going to stand up for Saeger a bit. Last years offense and previous to that was simply average and that may be a vast over statement. Maybe the reason for that was not Saeger but those that were in Saeger's ear instead. He might be a completely different and more confident quarterback in this new system than he was in the old conservative system. I can totally buy that path of reasoning but I don't recall hearing anyone mention that as a way to rationalize him being the starter. One thing about this football team that I really believe may be true is that I think they are going to be more organized on the field and be a better prepared team that is capable of making better in game adjustments than the teams of the last several years and that can go back as far as 10 years to even as far back as 30 years ago. My memory get a little foggier to the Creehan years but I can't think of a coach since than that was a good strategist that is proficient at coaching on the fly. I think Nielson can be that guy.

In other Coyote news, I just heard from Calvin Strong's high school head coach that he has cleared his last eligibility hurdle and will begin practicing with the team next week.

Time to look back at how everyone was able to prognosticate the Coyotes on a game by game basis. I tabulated rather quickly so there is a chance for a mistake.
1) Jackl - 9-2 2) Coyote Fan - 8-3 2) SDSU Alum08 - 8-3 2) Augie Jacks Fan - 8-3 5) Fight SD - 7-4 5) go rabbits - 7-4 5) gopher yote - 7-4 8) Yote 53 - 6-5 9) Yo Kid - 5-6 10) Ki Yote - 4-7
Those that are not USD Fans faired the best overall with their predictions. Thanks to everyone that went out on a limb this season.
