Awhile back I was having a conversation with a well educated, intelligent man about sports. He named off his pro sports teams of choice, and I named off my college sports teams of choice. He then asked the question: "why do you like college sports so much? They're kids, and the teams change every year." I found myself trying to "explain" that the game on the field, or the court, or the diamond...or whatever venue fits is simply a vehicle or catalyst that brings athletes, coaches, fans, and families together in a way that allows us all to experience life because of that common denominator. We always want to win the game, but ultimately we all want to share in winning at life, and by living vicariously through these student athletes give us that opportunity. We get to see boys and girls coming out of high school transform into beautiful successful young men and women literally before our eyes. We all share a bit of the successes and we all take ownership in the defeats. I stopped after that because I realized that there are a lot of people that don't and never will understand what it's really all about!
What happened this week through the initial efforts of a few insightful and thoughtful people, turned into one of those moments where we all come together to win the game for Sara. THIS is what it's really all about...I know all of you get IT!
Unbelievably proud today!
