These are teams that are kind of becoming regular culprits in these FCS upsets. Richmond beat Duke twice in the past 6 or 7 years. UNI beat Iowa State in 2014 and 2007 with numerous close calls against others. Eastern Washington beat a ranked Oregon State in 2013, Idaho in 2012 (though that program is a mess and transitioning to FCS now), and had one score losses to Washington twice and Washington State in the last five years. The Albany one came out of left field though - huge win for that program.
Something to take away if you are these FBS programs is that you should not be scheduling in-state FCS schools. These upper echelon FCS teams in Richmond, EWU, and UNI are on par with a lot of FBS teams and come in with all the motivation in the world because they want to beat the larger in-state schools that passed over them in the recruiting process.
I do really enjoy seeing these FCS over FBS upsets. There will be more of these in the next few weeks, other culprits I'll be keeping an eye on are Portland State, NDSU, James Madison, and Western Illinois.

Appalachain State just about beat #9 Tennesee in OT ,Tenn pulls out the win 20-13 One of the better stand outs in the nail-biter losses category.Seems many of the FCS playoff teams do well against FBS teams.

Appy is FCS now.
NDSU upsetting Iowa seems to be a popular pick. I watched NDSU week one. I watched Iowa yesterday. Not even close. The Bison have very little chance at winning that game. I don't understand why people are saying to look out for that game.

I don't understand why people are saying to look out for that game. I don't see NDSU beating Iowa - but I won't be surprised if NDSU pulls it off as they have won 5 straight games against FBS teams. Plus Iowa's been known to lay eggs, if they pull out another classic letdown against Iowa State your confidence will be diminished.

It is a general rule that it isn't a good idea to under estimate what NDSU is capable of. I will take Iowa but I will give NDSU a 30% chance to pull it off.

Meant to say FBS, my bad. I had to double check, sometimes I feel sure about something and not so much... I do think NDSU has a chance mainly because of their defense. Not having their stud MIKE will likely will hurt, but his replacement did well against CSU. Iowa will indeed go in as the favorite, but if they are slightly off and NDSU comes out like SDSU did against TCU then it's a game. I'm still trying to get a handle on MVFC teams versus FBS teams. The easy part is the conference analysis...crazy good as a whole.

This isn't meant as smack, but there isn't a conference out there I think that a team could do that and then end up towards the bottom other than the Valley.
