If you all didn't know Char Bar (Charcoal Lounge) has been updated from some pictures I have seen online. I think they got rid of the sticky floors and updated the tap system. You had me at "got rid of sticky floors" |

Just put the Char back on my list of places to hit up on Saturday morning. I was a Char Bar guy back in my college days, there and the Varsity. Post graduation I spent more time at the Pub, Carey's, and Leo's. Now I'm pretty much Leo's and OLC if I go downtown.
I too limit my D-Days now to tailgating and the game. No way do I want to put up with the crowds that are there at night. Day drinking at the bars on D-Days is fun, wish I could do both day drinking and the game. That's why I plan on settling for a few morning cocktails pre-tailgating.

Back in the 3.2 days, the 18 -20 year old crowd had the Varsity, Elmers, White Rabbit and Godseye.

Literally the only past bar I can recall that has closed since I got to USD is Pro's. Loved those 50 cent taps on Fridays!

When someone finds the thread on the football game please post the link here. Hopefully the players are focusing on the game much more than the pro board fans. If not UNI wins 73-0. Maybe during the D-Days partying a football game may just break out.
I hope we see the red helmets this week. I also hope if Streveler continues to give away possessions that Simmons gets some PT. We once asked how Minnesota let him get away and now that comprehension gets a little clearer. Last week the Penguins were better and the Coyotes weren't as good as the final score indicated. It will easily take the best game of the year to date to pull this one out. Going UNI this week 34-23.

Streveler has to take care of the football or it could get ugly. If we play the same way we played last week, I would expect a pretty similar outcome. If he holds on to the ball, I wouldn't be surprised by a Yote win. That will probably be my prediction for the rest of the games this season. I have faith our defense will hold the running game in check. Will probably give up a couple over the top at some point. But they will keep us in it. I will disagree about Simmons getting some PT. If we're within striking distance, I want the ball in the hands of the guy that has been there before. I am excited about Simmons future here, but we have to live in the present. Streveler is the most athletic kid on the team and has the ability to destroy defenses with his legs. He also has a tendency to throw that stupid 10 yd out route (I wish the coaches would quit calling that) for pick 6's. A lot of upside, a lot of down side. You take the good with the bad, but if we're in a position to make a comeback, I want Streveler on the field. Now, if the game get's lopsided one way or the other, I'm all for Simmons getting his feet wet. |

Yotes must be feeling their red jerseys, white pants, and the new Ghost helmets are a winning combination. Was hoping to see the Chrome uniforms today, but whatever works to get the "W". Go Yotes!
