They lost a close one with WIU this past weekend. Not sure how much stock I put in the results of their last game. If I'm reading the stats right, it looks like their offense got fortunate with some short fields that kept them in the game. Not a game on our schedule we can look past, but this is a team we should match up with pretty well IMO.
Same prediction as last week. If we limit the mistakes on offense and win the turnover battle, we should be in a position to win the game at the end.

We are actually favored to win this one. Nonetheless is we give away points we can lose to anyone. Good opportunity to build some momentum this weekend.

Important to find a win on the road to help everyone buy in with the coaching staff and the direction they are headed.

I was impressed with the Coyotes no doubt on how they played against UNI. One thing that past Coyotes teams didn't seem to be very good at was to build on momentum. I hope this team is different. I think man for man coach for coach the Coyotes are the better team but they need to prove it. The game is pretty close to a pick em but with that said I am going Coyotes in this one 40-17. A little more lopsided than some would think but I think momentum carries over this time.

Apparently Vegas is expecting a real defensive battle. 76.5 is the over / under...

Apparently Vegas is expecting a real defensive battle. 76.5 is the over / under... With USD favored by 2.5 I believe. So Vegas is calling for a 39.5-37 victory for the Yotes Saturday. I just don't see InSU putting up that many points unless we give them 10-14 off turnovers.

If Streveler plays like he did on Saturday, we'll be just fine.

After a quick look at the conference stats, it appears that InSU is struggling on D. At or near the bottom in a lot of categories on that side of the ball. Got to think if Streveler can connect on a couple of mid to deep passes early, we may be able to march up and down the field much of the day.
But winning road games in-conference is always tough...

Fun fact: Bob Nielson and his staff went 3-0 against Indiana State while at Western Illinois.
2nd fun fact: Indiana State has an offensive lineman named Dakota Vermillion. Had a double take when seeing that name on the roster.
To recap Indiana State's season thus far:
Game 1: Relatively narrow 16 point victory over non-scholarship Butler Game 2: 30 point loss to Minnesota Game 3: 3 point win at a mediocre SE Missouri State team Game 4: 3 point win against an Illinois State team that is somehow the only 0-3 team in MVFC play Game 5: 21 point loss to Missouri State, their first win against a D1 team since beating an abysmal USD team in 2014 Game 6: 1 point loss to a realtively tough looking WIU team.
Looking at the first 5 results I would have predicted an easy win for USD, but Western Illinois is no cupcake and Indiana State nearly pulled out a win on the road. I still think we pull it out, but that most recent result brings up some nerves.

An interesting stretch coming up:
Since we started the year with YSU and UNI, we get a nice run of games against teams in the bottom half of the MVFC on D:
InSU - 8th (464 yrds/gm) IlSU - 3rd (the outlier here, 322 yards) WIU - 9th (464) SIU - 6th (427) SDSU - 10th out of 10 (487)
It is a great stretch to see if the offense can really make hay. A win on Saturday really sets them up very well.

A win on Saturday really sets them up very well. One game at a time. This is a great opportunity to get a road win in conference play. I'm starting to sound like a broken record here, but take care of the football and you have shot to win any of em. That is especially true with the style of football this new staff has incorporated. I think WIU gave ISUb a short field a few times and muffed a punt or something that all turned into points. If we can avoid doing those things, we should win the game. Thanks for posting the defensive stats. I really enjoy seeing state at the bottom of the league in something.
