On another note, how lucky is SDSU this week. YSU is a contending team yet the Jacks have the fortune to catch them at home with YSU down to their 3rd string QB. Ricky Davis, YSU's first-string QB, expected to start against SDSU according to Youngstown media. Word was he had cracked ribs. Tough SOB if true and he's still playing.

The Yotes are playing some good football and appear to be at the point where they can beat anyone. However, this team can also lose to anyone which has made this season so much fun or stressful! Illinois State is a tough Mo Valley football team that should never be overlooked and they will require USD's complete attention.

Streveler was practicing today if that gives any indication as to his status this weekend.

Streveler was practicing today if that gives any indication as to his status this weekend. Concussions are a tricky thing - the Gopher's Mitch Liedner missed two games after a pretty mild hit. Just hard to tell...

OK, time for predictions. I'm going to hedge and give 2:
W/ Streveler, Yotes blow them out at home 37-33 (that would feel like a blowout at this point) W/O Streveler, Yotes 41-38 in 2OT (you know, a normal game)

What I find strange is that there actually seems to be less homerism now when the team is a little better than their was during the previous 4 years. The eye test tells me that this team should have more optimism now not less. Come on is anyone gonna pick the Yotes to win by double digits. There is absolutely nothing wrong with picking a 10 point win. There is nothing wrong with picking a loss either but sooner or later, and probably sooner things will click a little better than than even have been and this team is going to start picking up more impressive victories. Hopefully that time comes tomorrow.

I feel most here are relatively grounded in their takes and there has been nothing to suggest we should expect a double digit victory over just about anyone on our schedule.

All you need to do is watch Coyote Corner and listen to Bob talk about Illinois State to understand why people are concerned. Further, with questions about who our starting QB may be, I think some reservations are warranted.

Just because the MVFC games have been close lately does not mean the trend will continue. For all we know the Coyotes will lose on Saturday. I put 2 and 2 together and I see a double digit win. Just the trends when it comes to the programs. If Steveler doesn't play I could see a much greater chance of a loss. Teams have to game plan completely differently with him playing vs not playing. It seems as if lately their is about a 75% chance that Streveler will have a 50+ yard touchdown and another 50-50 chance that he passes for a 50+ yard touchdown. Those big plays are hard to over come for the opponent.
