Bouma is actually 4th in Valley games before this week. His average yard per carry is a little lower than that. What is fairly amazing is that in yards the Yotes actually rank 9th in offense and 9th in defense through last week. By being out gained by over 100 yards today those total probably won't improve a whole lot. To be 3-1 with those numbers it shows that the Coyotes are very opportunistic. They are a polar opposite of the kind of a team they used to be. I think it would be well advised to get those numbers up a bit if the Coyotes are to continue the forward movement.

NDSU beat Western Illinois 21-13 tonight. Probably a good thing for the Coyotes. Now WIU is 5-2/2-2 so with a win next week the Yotes should edge out the Leather Necks in a head to head battle for a playoff spot if both teams win the same amount of games thereafter. With NDSU's schedule and win over Iowa plus their reputation the Yotes will not be likely to get a bid over them anyway.

Coyote Running Backs Senior Trevor Bouma is the Valley's second-leading rusher at 83 yards per game. He stands with 2,227 career yards, good for eighth in program history. ^^Taken straight from this week's game preview

That might be in all games but the MVFC web site in conference only games shows him 4th as I said above. That was before this week in case they updated the site since I last looked.

Obviously ISU turnovers made the difference and credit Coyote hustle and determination with the 2 FFs inside the 5 that resulted in at least a 10 point swing away from ISU. Sometimes FB really shouldn't be too complicated. I was disappointed that with 830 left and leading by 10 points the Yotes main concern wasn't a fake punt which was a very predictable call. Fortunately the Yotes hung on for the win!! Keep scratching and clawing and winning Coyotes!!

It's amazing how talented the MVFC is! ISU(who now is 1-4 in the Valley) beat Northwestern and after that Northwestern has beaten Duke, Iowa, Michigan State and today Indiana and only lost to Nebraska by 11. It's no wonder the Valley is considered the SEC of FCS!!

It's crazy to think that the last few years we've all been saying how we were a handful of plays from even being competitive in games. This year they've flipped the script and are a handful of plays from being ahead by multiple scores and having a 5-2 record! So impressed by this new staff. Seeing returning players who didn't really have roles last year (Jackson, Lambert, Carpenter, etc.) excel in this style has been really fun to watch. Can't wait to see what this staff can do with more than 2 months to recruit! The football program is in the best place it's been in years. A lot of that credit goes to Joe Glenn but even more credit goes to the job coach Nielson has done with getting everyone to buy in. Not gonna lie, seeing the start against New Mexico (huge TD run given up on first play) and seeing them go down 21-0 to Weber State made me wonder if they made the right decision but I couldn't be more sure that Nielson is the guy that will take this program to the next level.

First off, nice win again today by the coyotes. It was an exciting game to watch again.
Next thing, coyote fan, holy crap. Settle down. WE WON! Was the whole game pretty? Nope. But we found a way to win again. I can't imagine what you would be saying if we hadn't won 3 consecutive conference games by 3 points. Would you be calling for nielsens head again?
Why are you all over Bouma? He just moved up to number 5 on the all time rushing list. He has done this while missing multiple games in multiple years with injuries.
You know you are all over this and that about every aspect of the game. We are doing a combination of enough of those things to get wins. We have a 4-3 record and a 3-1 record in the valley. Get over yourself.
Couple questions. Anyone hear what's going on with Warners injury? Also, anyone else notice Calvin Strong wasn't on the sideline? Is he still on the team?

Ok - raise your hand if you had the Yotes in 2nd place in the Valley at the half-way point. With a new coach and a new system.

On the FB side, getting a W should be viewed as a major step. We didn't play well for stretches, but we beat IllSU WITH OUR 2nd & 3rd STRING QB's. That accomplishment shouldn't be missed. I hope Streveler feels OK, and the fact that we went a game and a half with W's while he was hurt is awesome.
On the non-FB side, the crowd today was...not good. I know the weather was awesome, pheasant season, harvest, etc. I wish game day production (non-FB) was louder, faster paced, and more interesting. Possibly the most interesting timeout activity was trying to figure out why the 2 kids were punting towards the Yotes & officials. Maybe make it an event you don't want to miss (more than just watching a football game) and not so stinking quiet.

Highlights from yesterday's game:
There are some truly incredible plays (by freshmen!) in here:
1:03 - The freshman Randy Baker managing to hold onto that ball while getting lit up on 3rd down. 2:38 - Simmons, while rolling to his left, launches a pass about 55 yards and perfectly places it for Donovan. 3:12 - Marchalo Judge manages to somehow run down the ball carrier and strip him for a Yote touchback.
So impressed with the arm of Simmons. In Fall camp Jay Elsen said the kid had an NFL arm. We saw it on display and I am inclined to agree. So many impressive throws by Simmons yesterday.

Heard Warner had a bad ankle sprain... were gonna do another x-ray today to confirm it is only a sprain.
I too would be interested to know what Calvin Strong's staus is if anyone else knows.

He was wearing a boot and on crutches yesterday. He will not play in a game this year. Strength and Conditioning work plus a good Spring and Fall camp will be important for him (Like every other player)
