The pragmatism is getting hard to defend. The opening lines irk me. We're not being tested...the other teams are! Walk, talk and act like you were always here...because that's how good this team is!!! I'm not only talking to the team but all us fans as well. If USD had won the last 2 years national championships, how much confidence would you as a team and us as fans have right now??? This team has been playing lights out. Well that's exactly what we need right now! We need to all have that walk! You have to see it before u do it. We can't afford to wait another year for it to naturally sink in. Recognize NOW this team SHOULD win it all this year. ..because this team is a great team...not that we can or we have the oportunity...OWN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP NOW AND WALK WITH YOUR CHEST OUT THAT SOMEBODY HAS TO TO TAKE IT AWAY FROM YOU! !! PLAY YOUR GAME!!!

The whole piece is "remember how USD sucked?". Great, let's just keep writing every article with a blind eye to the present.
Mick blows. Some will complain about the lack of Argus coverage and be shot down by others saying we don't give them enough numbers to justify it. I say the Argus isn't putting out a product worth reading. Forget them.

thebacksackdad,
You are absolutely correct in what you are saying. Everyone says that the Coyotes have a gauntlet of a schedule but I don't think it is any worse than many of the other contenders. The Jacks play WIU, ISUr, NDSU and USD so I think that schedule is tougher than what the Coyotes have to face. The Bison still have to play UNI, SDSU and USD so that is no cake walk. Illinois State has a very tough schedule as well. The Jacks might have the toughest schedule of anyone. They play the Bison poorly at home and that type of environment will favor NDSU if the weather is anything but perfect. They play WIU saturday in what appears to be cold and windy conditions which will not help them either. Playing USD in the dome is tough on anyone in FCS.
The team needs to act like this is the year they need to make hay. They need to understand the importance of really finishing strong because last year that did not happen. Just because the Coyote are new to this platform on the totem pole doesn't mean they shouldn't or don't need to make the most of it. Even though the future appears bright there are no guarantees in life. After all this is the only real opportunity for success that the seniors on the team will have. The time for reflection is after the lockers are cleaned out. The goal should be a national title. Obviously that is very difficult to accomplish but that needs to be the attitude of this team. The Coyotes on full cylinders are capable of a very deep run but there has to be an attitude that they will accept nothing less. If that doesn't happen so be it but the drive has to be strong.

1st off, I'm very excited with our fan base...it seems everybody is 1000% behind this team and that's part of what it takes to succeed! I can't wait for another game this Saturday at the Dome! All of u are completely awesome!!! I've met a lot of you and know how pumped you all are to see your team succeeding!!!! I'll do whatever I can to help and am so happy to be a part of what is happening with USD football! GO COYOTES!!!
As far as our media coverage is concerned, I don't really give a rats a$$. It's up to the reporter/media outlet. I don't want to seem like someone that has a stick up their a$$, but living in WI with the Packers and Badgers, we've gone thru enough reporters/writers that, when the dust settles, the ones that wrote the more correct things seem to succeed...the ones that wrote to popular opinion at the time failed. PERIOD! I'm very disappointed with the media coverage of our team and, to this point, have been chalking it up to the small market. However, if any of these reporters/columnists want to make some hay, talking up the Yotes would seem an obvious thing to do since it's not trendy right now and they would look like Nostradamus. ...but whatever...they might want to keep on covering SDSU their entire career. ;} I think they'll eventually get it and the early bird gets the worm!
As far as our team is concerned, I can't say enough for the leadership Streveler has on the entire team. I know his leadership transcends throughout the entire team and that can't be understated. This team follows him and will go as far as far as he wills it to go. Mark my words right now... USD will be in the National Championship game this year!!! I can't wait to see all of you again this Saturday!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BOOM!!!! SHACKALACKALACKA!!!!

I've noticed a strange Mick-related conundrum - his writing/Argus stuff is certainly pragmatic/bordering on negative. But his radio/podcast personality is quite different, even bordering on optimistic. Last week (or the week before) he even said on air that the Yotes are just simply too good for some of the MVFC teams to beat them - even if the Yotes have a bad day, implying the middle of the pack wasn't even close to being on their level. He also has the Yotes #2 in his version of the conference power poll (again, on-air).

I think Mick is a good writer but would probably be happier if he were covering his Tommies back in MN. He has never been a homer for the Yotes, and frankly I prefer that to the Terry Vandrovecs (former homer for the bunnies at the Argus) of the world. Matt Zimmer does a very good job. He covers a lot of area sports in addition to the bunnies. He is generally enthusiastic and knowledgeable about most sports. (My opinion is based on articles in the Argus but also frequent interviews on KWSN and Midco)

Garbage. Utter garbage. "Since the Coyotes (4-1, 7-1) joined the league in 2012, there have been five Missouri Valley teams that got to seven wins and did not make the playoffs". All 5 of those came in 2012 and 2013, prior to the MVFC gaining immense respect and putting 6-5 teams in the playoffs the past two years. That's about the only thought Mick contributed to the article, the rest being straight quotes.
I'm disappointed in myself for even clicking on the link. The Argus does not deserve our views so long as Mick is our writer.

Very cool. Thanks for the clip. Shows what an intelligent person Strev is...particularly that he hasn't got a big head and still listens to his dad!
