WIU is in trouble with all the injuries pilling up. McShane has bad wheel, Brett Taylor out concussion, Zobrist bad knee, and we can't seem to get over loosing Bob Nielson. Does anyone have a similar list at the moment for the Yotes?

I thought he was probable to return during our non conference schedule but have not seen him at all this year.

Wessel hurt his shoulder after about 3 plays at UND and is out for the year. Trying to get a Medical Redshirt. It shouldn't be a problem because he has not redshirted yet.

Anyone know Warner's status for Saturday? I believe he left the game late against ISU. He is the biggest possible gap as far as I'm aware.

After watching the replay when I got home and seeing his ankle buckle, plus the fact that he was on crutches at the end of the game, I would guess we won't have Warner for the foreseeable future. It looked like a pretty significant ankle injury.

He wasn't listed on the depth chart in the game notes for this week. I am assuming that he will be out.

I believe Warner is day to day... may be a game time decision on whether he can play on that ankle or not.

Key's to the game
The Coyotes have to use the home field advantage to counter the extra motivation one would figure that the Leather Necks have coming in. Whether it will be necessary or not I believe the Yotes have to be in the mind set that they have to reach 40 points to come away with the win. Whether it's Western Illinois getting out quickly, the Coyotes getting out quickly or basically a one possession game the whole way the good version of the offense needs to hang around most of the game. Keep that no huddle hurry up offense in the chamber for the whole game until it's a certainty the game is over by just running it up the middle every time and WIU not having enough time outs or opportunities left to win.
The offense is going to need diversity with the running game. Don't just keep going right up the middle but be unpredictable when and where running the ball to. In the passing game the Yotes have to take advantage of the whole field and take what is given to them. Sometimes that is a quick bubble screen, sometimes a 10 yard out pattern, sometimes an open receiver over the middle or whatever. If it does come down to having a lead in the second half it's time to play the step on their throat game and choke them out. I think the next time the Yotes go conservative with the lead they are due to have one of those bite them in the tail and end up taking a bad loss.
The spread is -1 right now for the Coyotes and that seems like a pretty fair line. 65.5 is the over under number. So 33 is the median score basically for both teams and that is why I think the Yotes better be in that mind set to have to score 40.
The biggest key more than anything else is for the Coyotes to keep the gas peddle firmly planted to the floor. That is obviously kind of an offensive term but it does for the defense as well. They need to keep playing aggressive and not play a prevent a win type style.

It would seem to me that if Streveler is fully back and healthy, the time off the past couple weeks could really provide a spark. Let's face it - he had taken a beating. Maybe now he is healthy and refreshed, which means we still play offense in all 4 quarters. (I like Seager's steadiness & Simmons potential, but with them in things stall at this point.)
I'll predict a healthy Streveler: Yotes 38 - 30

They are listed as starters on the depth chart but I doubt the coaching staff is working hard to make the depth chart as accurate as possible. I believe Nielson stated on Monday that Jackson is out today.

It's GameDay!! I hope everyone has a great time and the Coyotes keep us smiling. I'll be in my normal seat. At the computer.
Too bad the Jackies and DeadBirds are on DirecTV. The Yotes hosting the Necks would have been a whole lot better.
Got pretty close with my prediction last week. I am feeling The Good Guys at 31 to 17. That's a little breathing room for sure.
Go South Dakota!!!!

If we beat #15 Western Illinois it will set up a very exciting matchup against a somewhat vulnerable Bison team next week.
