Must say it again, you guys do a GREAT job with USDCoyoteSports and if I hadn't checked with "the source" that you guys are, I would have missed the pickup of Ian Nordell.
Wanted to share my recruiting story this morning on HERO Sports, capped with my talk with Luke Chuol this morning, the second former NDSU commit to come on board with the 'Yotes. I know I'm preaching to the choir here folks, but your coaching staff is doing a tremendous job of recruiting. They are really putting together a nice class.
Here's our story:
herosports.com/news/south-dakota-football-recruiting-sees-flurry-of-activity-fcs-footballWow...take the time to read this piece. If that doesn't give you faith in the direction we are heading, then nothing will. This staff is outstanding in every way. I know of one poster that thinks we should've been undefeated yet, but those that have 2 feet firmly planted on planet earth, the future is bright. In another forum we had one poster dwell on the direction of the program with facts of past performance. And although they are what they are, what the numbers don't show is this...
We have 6 losses.
1.) New Mexico. UNM is currently tied for first place in the Mountain West Conference east division. It's likely they will finish 2nd or 3rd, but no worse. Their only conference defeat is Boise a State.
2.) North Dakota. UND is guaranteed a piece of the Big Sky title. Yes we lost in 2OT, and pissed way a 20 point 4th quarter, but we were there.
3.) Youngstown State. Lost 30-20 out there and I would say the only ball game in the league we weren't in it till the end.
4.) Western Illinois. Very unfortunate finish to a game we had won. Bouma fumbles and we drop 2 passes in final seconds from freshman receivers filling in for injured upperclassmen that would've almost certainly given Bergner the opportunity to make the winning FG.
5.) Southern Illinois. As horrific as we played, and we did ( I was there ) we still had the ball on their 5 to tie the game at the end. It didn't happen, but these kids have "NO QUIT" in them. They don't know the meaning.
6.) SDSU. We were totally outmatched physically, lost the stat war by a wide margin, yet was one missed chip shot field goal from taking a 24-21 lead fairly deep into the game against one of the two best football teams in the MVFC. We had a shot.
It's is certainly debatable about losing a couple games at the end we should've won, but the question to me is how were we even competitive with as many injuries as we had. Look at how many starters are gone from the receiving corp, linebackers, defensive backs? The answer is coaching. If you aren't excited about where we are heading, somethings wrong with you. Combine that with this recruiting story and you as fans get some real insight as to what we have in Vermillion. This staff is going to change the culture.
