Just googled it and he won the event by 5 3/4" over a pole vaulter from Texas A&M. How impressive is that? Having an Olympic pole vaulter as your coach helps. 😄
Great job Chris

Won by more than 5 inches? As a freshman?! I think this kid is going to be an olympian himself come the 2020 games.

He has a real good shot at gathering himself 4 indoor and 4 outdoor national championships by the time he leaves USD. Impressive for a freshman.

Back from a few weeks in warm, sunny Florida and the first thing on my mind Coyote-wise is when we're going to read a news article on Chris and his coach. Sioux City? Yankton? Looking for something in-depth here folks, please.

I think back to my irresponsible freshman year in college of gorging at the commons, skipping class to play video games with friends, and staying up until 4 or 5 every night, then think about how Nilsen is winning NCAA titles during his freshman year...you could say it's an unfavorable comparison for me.

Haha. I'm not so sure.

Higher, faster, farther! Great see to the track team making progress on all three fronts, to go along with great coaching.
Too many individual achievements to name but I'm glad to see the many who are contributing to the team's success. Looking forward to upcoming competitions and, by the way, GO COYOTES!! Great job representing your university!!
