Looks like SDSU gets the 4 seed and IPFW the 5. We play the winner of that matchup after casting WIU aside.

There were some pictures on Twitter that they must have cut down the nets after practice. I noticed there were a number of little kids there, but no adults/fans/etc. Any idea what that was for? Just for giggles or part of a youth program?

Smith said tonight Dave Williams asked the team once they got off the bus if they wanted to cut down the nets. Smith said he was hesitant to do so. I'm guessing that if there weren't fans and ladders waiting he wasn't going to go out of his way to do this.
I definitely wasn't expecting them to do this but take no issue with it. They won a conference title outright and didn't find out until they were traveling home. No reason to be mad, it's not like the university blew up this event or even invited the public. If not for a couple tweets we might never have even known this happened. Team won a title and got some nets to go with the trophy in the trophy case.

Just for giggles or part of a youth program? Looks like it was when they got back yesterday. I think it was just a team thing. The bunny board is having a meltdown over it Wouldn't it figure that they would have a problem with it. They rely so much on home cooking in this conference and everything is catered to them and I am saying this as the Coyotes being the #2 team being catered to but at least our teams recently prove it in the regular season when it counts and when circumstances are at a competitive fairness. The Coyotes won this title because they actually had to play and win on the road, which is something that is rarely a part of their vocabulary up north. The Men deserved this title and did it the hard way and didn't rely on their home court or crowd but the excellence of the basketball team. The SDSU teams aren't as good as the Coyotes when it comes to home vs road win ratio. They are much better at home then on the road. They think it is ok only to celebrate winning a tourney, problem is none of their tourney championships are played under fair cicumstances. If they had to play in Fort Wayne with 4,000 screaming Mastadon fans to get the the NCAA tourney somehow their success rate wouldn't be nearly as good and their tune would certainly change. It just bugs me when a conference champ has to play in essence a road game to get to the NCAA tourney considering how much is on the line. Imagine the outrage if Kansas as a #1 seed ended up playing Duke as a #3 seed in Charlotte, NC in a regional final. That is not really any different then what the Fort Wayne men had to do last year in Sioux Falls. Their prize for getting a #1 seed in their conference tourney is playing 3 Dakota teams in South Dakota to get to the NCAA tourney. Talk about money and fan interest all you want but that is just not right. There is no way they should have had to play the #8 seed Coyotes in Sioux Falls in the first round, then followup with NDSU and finally if they would have made it the Jacks. Call it beating a dead horse but that really bugs the hell out of me, it just does. When or if the Coyote women play Western Illinois on Monday I will cheer my guts out for the Yotes but deep down inside I am going to hold a lot of respect for WIU for them having to overcome a tough environment for them which they should not have to over come. So for all Coyote fans don't forget to do an internal clap or maybe even a visually apparent external clap for the teams that have to over come these type of unfortunate circumstances just because the wrong home crowd will be apparent.

I bet UNO beats NDSU tomorrow. While we have flourished down the stretch, NDSU has been hanging on for dear life. They are 4-3 in February and in their last three games were crushed by IPFW, needed 2OT to beat WIU at home, and a nail biting 2 point win at ORU. Just squeaking by the 8th and 9th place teams the last two times out and being stomped by a collapsing middle-of-the-pack team has me thinking they can't escape Omaha with a win. Missed this earlier.... BOOM...SPOT ON Great call Yotes

I wouldn't worry about the rabbits take - their coaches are not/haven't been ones that would do something fun and irreverent just for the sake of fun. We should be happy Coach Smith would be willing to support fun for its own sake, and not just be business like all the time.

As an SDSU fan I think it is kind of fun, and actually pretty classy of Smith to have them cut down the nets with the kids. So not every SDSU fan thinks this is idiotic, or are in a "frenzy" over it occurring. That said, really CF? Some of your posts are so crazy that sometimes, if I had to guess, even USD fans are rolling their eyes. Looks like it was when they got back yesterday. I think it was just a team thing.
