We plan to be there! Getting our tailgate on around 4:30 (and by tailgate, I mean drinking beer!) Gonna hit up the HP tailgate at 5:30... then be in the Dome around 6:30 to watch warmups and get settled in... Can't wait!

I am out of town. When you all get a chance would you give me an assessment of how we looked? Thx

Planning on being at the tailgate around 3:30 or 4. Looking forward to a fun afternoon and getting a look at some of the younger guys we've spent hours speculating about on here.
goyotes24, I'm expecting you'll be at the tailgate. Bring a bags set.

Haven't seen anything posted, but is Ducker hurt? Had been hearing some decent things about him throughout camp but don't see him on any of the rosters.

Just my observations from tonight's game...
I thought RS-Fr Ben Klett looked pretty good at RB... RS-Fr Tyler Tsagalis looked pretty good at QB... RS-Fr Ethan Falaniko also showed some glimpses of being a contributer at RB.
I think the offense will be okay... if the WRs can hang onto the ball... Lots of drops tonight. Carpenter dropped at least three passes that I can recall. Van Roekel looked every bit the part of a senior leader and will be a huge part of our offense if he can stay healthy.
Defensive line looked solid as well... Questions linger about whether the young LBs can step up...?

Was a fun game to watch compared to the traditional spring game format! Andy Aune and Brian Woodward looked very good for the White team. Darin Greenfield and Joe Kordus looked good on Red's D. The punting and FG kickers did well although no rush by a defense. Overall a lot of good plays and chance for young QBs and other young players to show case their skills!

My Notes from the Spring Game:
Two lead stories this Spring IMO - Improved Depth and Overall improved size and strength at all positions. The team is in a much better position at literally every position group in these areas. The Spring Game can only showcase a small sample of the total capabilities with the type of offense USD runs - especially with our top two QB's dual threat capability, it is hard to really judge their production when they are not allowed to be tackled - a core part is the spread option (QB run threat) and the plays run off that look. At the game last night they did not have the QB run option available so it was not realistic.
There were several players not playing at all besides Gunn and Jiles (someone else on the board confirmed that they have left the team) Alonge Brooks - has been out several weeks, Marchalo Judge - has been out several weeks (I did not see him there at all yesterday), Jake Leohr - out entire Spring, John Wessel - out entire Spring, Jake Matthew - out entire Spring, Joe Schlager - out several weeks, Ethan Roth - out entire Spring, Ed Kennedy - out several weeks, Matt Johnson - out several weeks, Max Frank - out several weeks.
Brian Woodward is my surprise of the Spring. He has moved into the MLB position and is playing at a high level. He is a much better athlete than I would have guessed and is perhaps our best LB in pass coverage IMO. I admire this guy for sticking in there and finding a way to adjust. Congratulations to him.
Klett and Falaniko have tremendous potential and IMO we will see a rotation between Frederick/Anderson as the speed backs and Klett/Falaniko as our power backs. Would not surprise me to see all four of them get quite a bit of time next year versus depending on one or just two of them for the majority of the snaps.
For the Spring game the team also released an updated weight listing for each player and there have been significant changes. The new weight room and maybe even more importantly the new nutrition center for the athletes is paying noticeable dividends. Nearly every player made significant size gains over the last posted weight this past Fall.
OL- Dagel +5, Johnson +25, Morris +10, Scheidegger +5 (he looks noticeably thinner even though he gained 5 lbs.), Bianchi +30, Jensen +10, Anderson +10, Chisholm +10. DL - Whitcomb +5, Hopkins +5, Headlee +10, De Boer +10, Markert -35 (Down to 340 - he needs another year redistributing more strength to his lower body and then could be an immovable interior DL for the Yotes), Kline +10, Davis +5, Kramer +5, Lambert +10, Meyers +20, Greenfield +10 From other position groups that stood out: WR - Donovan +5, Baker +10, Jackson +5, RB - Fredrick +5, Anderson +5, Falaniko +10, Klett +20 Safety - Andrew Gray +10, LB - Coker +5, Alex Gray +10, Aune +15 (lead the spring game with 10 tackles yesterday) QB - Kaiser +15.
These numbers along with the subjective eyeball test of how they looked (appearance and speed) really impressed me. Wish they posted their testing results - 40, shuttle, Vertical, Broad jump etc - that would tell a more accurate story. Finally the team is looking more like the other MVFC teams we have been seeing come into the Dome.
Hope the team builds on this solid Spring - continues to get stronger and comes into Fall Camp ready to make their mark in the MVFC. Will be here soon.
