The story has been all over Bisonville as well. To sum it up, SDSU fans believe Stig runs a clean program and nothing unsavory would ever happen there. SDSU fans never mention the word "pot" but navigate around the issue by saying that the players needed to have their due process and the "hot piss" test needed to be reviewed. By that time the season was over, as we all know. What WE all know is that the Argus is not going to press the SDSU football program on the issue and will, for lack of better term, be complicit in the cover-up. You have no idea what actually happened before the NDSU playoff game. Apparently there must have been some drug tests and some players tested positive before(or after) the game. The season ended in Fargo therefor the suspension carries to the following season just like what is happening at UCF right now. We don't know when the coaches found out the the tests came back positive. We all know that the players are suspended for the 1st 6 games of the season. Is it everyone's business to know why they are being suspended? They team broke team rules and Stig has came out and said that it will not be tolerated. If it those players do it again, I bet they are off the team. I also wouldn't believe everything you read on message boards. According to a poster on BV Dallas Goedert was in a boot with a calf injury. Zimmer cleaned up that rumor pretty fast once it was brought to his attention. You bitchiness towards SDSU is getting pretty sad. Keep on believing that USD football will be on par with SDSU football this year. Please bring up one quote of a USD fan saying they would be on par with SDSU. If you say "keep on believing" give us at least one instance if not more (afterall it is KEEP believing according to you). Somehow I have a feeling we won't be seeing that quote.

It is true that Goedert had an injury scare last week at practice but it turned out not to be serious. Pretty hard to keep those things secret in this day and age. Either way, I'm glad he isn't hurt because about the time we celebrate others injuries, that kharma will come back to haunt us.
I don't believe we are on par with either of the XDSU schools yet, but getting closer. 4 years ago we were getting blown out. The games get closer every season. I trust Bob's team of coaches and their ability to recruit, so hopefully in a couple years we are right there competing for conference championships.

Never wish for or celebrate anyone's injury. Not only bad karma, but extremely low class. I like watching good players anyway no matter what and I imagine our guys like competing against them. We may not be equal to the top dogs in the MVFC quite yet, but we are definitely a program on the rise which is something that some bunny people refuse to admit to themselves. It'll be fun to see where this program stands in a year or two although we have the capability to beat anyone this year, but probably not everyone. Our schedule is brutal. Watched the Midco preseason show tonight and that game in Frisco is going to have to be king of the hill or something because from what I've heard and read five teams on our schedule alone will be playing there.

I'm new to the conference and don't know any history of the power teams in it, but I've met a few of the coaches in the conference, and not to dis any I don't mention, but think NDSU is the class of the league because of coach Klieman and consider Nielson an equal. Success breeds success and birds of a feather...you get it.
Time will tell but here's hoping our opponents players overlook USD as much as it seems everybody else does. I personally think it's going to be a really great year for USD.

USD skeptics: The writing is on the wall! Nielsen is a proven winner. Just look at his stats! When he went to WI that team was in the dumps in less than 3 years he built and coached WI to be a legit playoff contender. He is a film expert (cerebral). This staff knows how to recruit and puts great effort and hours into their craft.I am not in the least doubt that this season the Yotes will gain respect and have a winning record! Once this staff recruits the depth they need....watch out! I already made my prediction on our record for 2017 and I'm sticking with it!! You are going to see immediately the difference in speed this team will have as supposed to previous years. Oh and did I mention the "Shopwreckers" the difference in size from previous years. Look at this years recruits....HUGE!!! Just tune in skeptics!!

I said over on AGS that the USD offense was going to be potent this year and on par with SDSU's offense in their production. I also said that I thought SDSU was not a deep team and were vulnerable there. SDSU fans are talking about 11-0 or 10-1 seasons. I don't think that will happen, I think they will be more like 8-3. I also said that USD will be better than expected and will end up 7-4. If you want to take all that and say the teams will be on par with each other then go right ahead.
As to the scandal inside the SDSU football program with multiple players being suspended for half the season, if the SDSU program does not want people speculating about the reasons for the suspensions then they should release some information and remove any doubt. Until they do so the public will speculate. It's D1 football, talk is going to happen. Not much different then what is going on at Florida right now with 10 players suspended for their opener with Michigan. Multiple players with half season suspensions are going to have people wondering what's going on inside the program.

Come on 53, you know with today's privacy laws a full release of information isn't going to happen.

Just to clarify - my question wasn't about what the players did to be suspended. (All things being equal, if it isn't public knowledge - i.e. a police record - I would prefer it be kept quiet.) My question is about the timing and possible coach cover-up/looking-the-other-way-for-a-big-game/something-doesn't-seem-to-add-up. As with most questionable behavior, the cover-up gets people in more trouble than the act.

Over the last few weeks, I've promised several of you that I would be producing another preseason podcast. Well, today is the day. John Thayer joined me this year and I'm pretty comfortable in saying you won't find a more in-depth look at the 2017 Coyotes. Feel free to let me know what you think. www.midcosn.com/blog/2017/08/midcosn-podcast-usd-preseason-preview/
