Has anyone been a basketball/hockey game where they have a pregame video projected onto the court? Something like this:
Wouldn't it be cool to have something similar here? Imagine the Coyote at midfield slowly lighting up with a backdrop video of Coyotes in the wild, throw in some howls, then break to the Harley leading the team onto the field. That would be awesome.

... we need a South Dakota original stadium food. Like Runzas at Nebraska. Tiger meat? Kuken? Monkey balls? Chislic? We could sell jerky and call it "Roadkill Rabbit " I didn't realize that Chislic has a very Southeastern South Dakotan history: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ChislicLooks like it originated from an immigrant from the Russian Crimea. The original dish was called "Shashlyk" and was similar to shish-kebab meat. Anyway, kind of a cool local tradition, and would be a very sporting-event-friendly food, with the skewers. Myself, I have only had deer chislic at a bar in Beresford. I'd love to try lamb/mutton. Also goes well with beer............

For lamb/mutton chislic look no further than the Kaylor Locker, Kaylor, SD (it's on the net). It's somewhere south of Parkston and just east I think of State Hwy. 37. Had a lot of it over the years. Delicious and would be a great stadium food.

I am in Kaylor as I type this. Chislic is an easy food that would work well for tailgating IMO. Lamb is the best but deer is also tasty.

People on the other side of the Big Sioux River in Iowa don't even know what chislic is. I recently had a convo with a friend from NW Iowa and he had never heard of it. Literally 20 miles from Vermillion and had never heard of chislic.

Many people do. I live 2 hours east of vermilion and heard of it, and love it.
Your friend is probably a Hawkeye fan 😜

He is a Hawkeye fan, but he is also an avid hunter and fisherman who bags a deer every year. So for him to not have heard of chislic surprised me.

Really cool, but I'm guessing there's a reason that only NBA teams and very high-profile NCAA teams have them

Delicious and would be a great stadium food. If they were interested, it would be sweet if the University and Kaylor Locker could draw up a mutually beneficial contract of some kind (including advertisement/ sponsorship/ food sales). I don't have any idea how these things work, but it seems to me that it could be beneficial for all parties, and would be a popular food, to boot. Also a unique experience for visiting fans. IDK - just an idea. Partnering with local small-town businesses is always a good strategy IMO. Fans in that area, say, maybe a 50-mile radius, are the ones that will keep showing up for games through the ups and downs, week after week. A good "base" to build. IMHO I know that's already happening to some extent, but the argus leader map that shows where the Jacks/Yotes fans are showed a lot of Blue in that 50-mile radius. There are lots of alumni in SF, but it's harder to get them (us) to regularly make the trip to Vermillion, unfortunately. (for whatever reason) Too fickle. The bulk of the heavy lifting of showing up for non-rivalry games has been Vermillionites and local area fans, I think (I could be wrong). Claiming that 50-mile area town-by-town will yield better long-term growth than trying to woo us up here, I think. Sorry to produce such a non-sequitur tangent. Maybe this should be in another thread.

Funny thing about Menno. Many years ago the town was originally named Freeman, but when the railroad came through they mixed up the signs and mistakenly put "Menno" along the tracks approaching the town and announced the nearby town as "Freeman". Rather than switch the signs to make things right, the two towns simply changed their names to suit the railroad.
Old story, courtesy of some professor in the History Department at USD.
Okay, I've REALLY strayed from this thread. Maybe, with the right amount of funding we could name of the Dakota Dome to the "Kaylor Locker Dakota Dome".

I think that professor might have been Joe Cash. Loved his classes!

Lol...ok
He taught Native American history and was finals week. It was second semester and I was only taking 13 hours. NCAA rules at the time said you had to pass 12 hours the semester before competition to be eligible. Anyway, I think I had a C going into the final, so I didn't exactly break my back to prepare for the final. But I did study enough to get my C and move on.
Anyway, the day of the test they handed out the exams and it was a blue book exam. I read the first question and had no clue. Same with question number 2. I think question 3 I sorta knew the name of the person in question so I filled in a bs amount of words to make it appear I knew it. The remaining questions I had no clue. I turned it in and literally broke out into a full sweat and immediately went to Coach Coopers office to tell him exactly what happened and the fear I could possibly be ineligible if I failed the test and course no only had 10 passing hours. I also had the fear of my dad in the back of my mind if I had to stay in Vermillion that summer to take a 3 hour course to get elgible.
Anyway, when I walked into Coach Cooper's office to explain my dilemma he literally busted my chops. I took it then he started laughing. Cause behind the heavy wood door was Dr. Cash and he was laughing his a$$ off because he had given me the Graduate Level exam to be funny and knew I would panic and go see Coach Cooper. Funny now but scared the crap, out of me then.
