I started this thread for 2 reasons; 1) info for visiting fans, 2) I'm bring a camper/trailer up this weekend an intend to keep it up there. I'm hoping to get the vinyl cut so I can get the graphics on by this Friday so it will be decked out. I'm planning on arriving this Friday around 7 pm and parking it at the stadium. I have the following questions;
- Since we'll be decked out, I'd like to park near the red bus and the guy that has the pop-up bar. What space should I park? - Where would be the best place to fill the water tank when I'm rolling into town. I'm pulling it with a smaller vehicle so I'm not filling the water before I leave. - I also have made an initial contact with parking as the website states the gates open only 3 hours before game time. I'm going to try to make prior arrangements but will be rolling into town at 7 pm on a Friday so I'm sure the parking pass office will be closed. Should this concern me or can I just make it up the following day? - We intend to leave it in Vermillion for the remainder of the season so I need to line up a place to keep it between weekends and will need to have it lined up this week so I know where I can leave it this Sunday. Any suggestions are appreciated!
Any other concerns I should have are appreciated. Feel free to publicly post or PM me. Thanks for all your help!!! Go Coyotes!!!

I can say that I showed up to tailgate 4 hours prior to kickoff each game last year, whatever the athletic department says regarding time is more of a suggestion than a rule. Even at 4 hours early I was definitely not the first person to arrive, except maybe the final game when it was cold as balls and we had nothing to play for.
Did you get a pass to be in the concrete "Tailgate Nation" area in the main parking lot? If not, you'll be in the grass lot. There are other Yote buses over there, maybe not the one you've seen with a pop up bar though.
I'm in the grass lot, but know people in the "Tailgate Nation" area. Wish the school would find a way to unify everyone like it used to be before the arena was built.

My uunderstanding is they did change it up so we could all be together. Is this wrong?

I always come at least 4 hours before the game. Even during the crap weather when nothing is on the line

My issue is that the grass lot tailgate, student tailgate, and main lot tailgate are all separated from each other. It was my hope that there would be more parking built on the old soccer field/behind the WH Over to help bring everyone together, but that does not seem to be in the cards.

Any other concerns I should have are appreciated. Feel free to publicly post or PM me. Thanks for all your help!!! Go Coyotes!!! There are designated parking spaces in the tailgating area. Did you purchase a tailgating pass from the Howling Pack? You will need that. There is also a free lot to the west of the stadium that does not require a parking pass. My understanding is 4 hours before game time, but I have seen people there before then. As for leaving the camper in the lot the night before, I would contact the ticket office or the athletic department. That is not a common practice and I suspect they do not want to encourage people to start doing this and taking over lots days in advance, particularly if there are ever conflicting events like soccer or volleyball.

Wish the school would find a way to unify everyone like it used to be before the arena was built. They changed the parking situation slighting in Tailgate Nation so as to open up more spaces. At the end of the day, the lot can only hold so many vehicles, however. I am not sure that it will ever be possible to fully "unite" the lots in a complete manner, particularly if they want to maintain order and organization. ***Edited*** I see what you are saying now - you are talking about moving the tailgating to a different, larger area. More like when it was on the South side of the Dome before the SCSC. I get you now.

Serious. I can't wait for Saturday. Our crew used to go all out with tailgating props; TV's, satellite dishes, couches & chairs, pull behind smokers, you name it. We've now cut it back to the pure essence of tailgating. At one game last season it was four guys sitting around a cooler with a radio. No food, no vehicles, no props, no nothing, just beer. And we received compliments from people walking by. Awesome, huh?
We'll have a grill and some other things this weekend but nothing too crazy like we used to do.

Hey guys. Haven't tailgated since the SDSU game two years ago. Any changes since then? We were in the grass lot to the west of the dome last time is that lot still open? Seemed to be a good spot. And what is the earliest we can get in there? Also do campus police patrol the lots? Reason I ask is I have a classic car with a built in alarm that has a mind of it's own. I may not lock the doors to it just to keep the damn alarm from going off. Thanks in advance guys.

Same layout as two years ago. Grass lot is free to park and tailgate in, but I don't think I've ever seen university police in the lot.

Why would there need to be an email sent out?

Any official email sent out on the tailgate for Sat? Not yet. I'm not expecting anything more than a standard newsletter stating that the standard tailgating rules apply.
