It's also important to remember Nielsen was hired by an AD who was only liked by himself and was fired shortly after i would have had a lot more respect for Bob if he had just been straight up what else would you expect from someone who basically felt like the Alumni didn't deserve any of his time Bob is a good coach but i've seen dead cats with more personality good coach who's personality just wasn't right for Western and he is the second WIU football coach to leave for a conference foe. I can respect this is a very personal topic for some WIU people. A lot of your fans have came on here mentioning Bob has no personality, he was not that good of a coach, his teams play no defense, and that you were happy he left. Guess what? We are thrilled to have him. He has done an amazing job so far at USD. Everyone I talk to likes Bob and his entire staff. Not one person at USD has said anything about his "personality". It sounds like WIU got what they wanted and so did USD. So why be so upset about it? This isnt a video game. It's real life. He did what was best for him and his family. But I do not have one bit of doubt that he truly cared/cares about everyone he left behind at WIU. Even after the cold remarks that have followed him. Just cause i was never a big fan of his personality there are thing i can give him credit for he came to Western when the situation around the football program was ugly uglier off than on the field he was replacing a coach who became the head coach do to an AD who had his own agenda's and got the school a pretty nice lawsuit there are a lot of coach with the success that he had who would have never even given WIU the time of day.

The way he handled the exit in Macomb was lying directly to the players faces. He said he was here to stay and then turned around got in his subaru and headed to Vermilion. Yes Illinois is a wretched detestable corrupt broke ass joke of a State. Hell, I don't even want to live here. I could go on and on about infrastructure upgrades that were promised and then vanished into thin air.
Leatherneck Country Thanks for reminding me about Randy Ball....Lol. He moved to the FCS football black-hole. (otherwise known as Missouri State)

WIU did not want Bob anymore, and he has done well at USD. Sounds like a win-win to me. I would be pissed as well if a HC of the Yotes went to an in conference foe. I honestly think it was the uncertainty that led him to Verm. I wish no ill will toward WIU or the state of IL. I hope they get things turned around.
Hopefully the Necks look ahead like you were stating and take an L vs. Coastal and then take another L vs the Yotes the following week. The game @wiu will be very tough and emotions will be high for the Necks.

Every MVFC school should root for every other MVFC school to win their non-con schedule. This builds the leagues SOS. Also were the Yotes to beat the 'Necks it does more for your resume if we are ranked high. If we lose to Coastal we could drop to #22 or lower. Its not enough you steal our coach you root for us to lose our non con games?

Prey tell what stupid things about your bff Bob are you referring to that have you coyote feelings hurt? The man lied to his players faces. I can appreciate why he made the decision he did. Yotebewithyou, let me spell it out, Coach Nielson did what he perceived to be best for his career and family. It is the lying deceitful way that he exit Macomb that Fans and his recruits remember. Why is this so hard for you to understand? Btw I was rooting for USD to whoop the F'ing Hawks. Well done.

I would also find it funny is WIU loses both of those games even though I do not think they will.

Coaches, like every other profession seek advancement. Hey if WIU would have paid the staff better then possibly they'd still be there... Like it or not college football is a business where hard decisions have to be made. The players aren't at college to be best friends with the coaches and the coaches that recruit them aren't looking for best friends... There is mutual gain, nothing personal about it.

Im concerned that although these kids have it beaten in to their heads that Coastal is the objective. Many are looking past to the date they circled on their calendar. Beat not USD but Bob Nielson, send him out of town tarred and feathered on rails (figuratively speaking) This is the only game this year that WIU views as a must win. Betrayal is not soon forgotten. Two questions: Are you as concerned about all the professors who have moved on, staff that has been released, programs that have been cut and businesses in McComb that have been affected as you are about losing your football coach who you didn't like anyway? Were you concerned about Tyler Yelk's feelings when he had the job jerked out from under his nose?
