Bison 24 MSU 5
Tighter than expected. A truly bizarre call saw an NDSU player ejected for targeting. Bison lost momentum but just saw Lance Dunn take it in from about 69 yds out early in the second half. NDSU is settling down and taking control.
Had to laugh at the UND board. Famous for their moral victories they are starting to claim one:
Posted 42 minutes ago Missouri State is hanging closer than anyone expected with NDSU.
40 minutes ago, geaux_sioux said: technically should be 17-8 (msu went for it on fourth and 3 at the three)...

Great opening drive by USD! I was distracted and a little confused by the 4th and 1 apparently played twice but the first must not have counted.

SDSU 38 YSU 27 MSU 7 NDSU 49 UNI 31 SIU 28 INDY St 14 Illinois St 38 USD 38 WIU 31 Very close call on our game Well thank you. I will say though I did not imagine anything close to the sequence of events that lead to that score. You were certainly more spot on in regards to YSU /SDSU. I really thought SDSU's offense was loaded enough to really put some points on the board. YSU was extremely physical and did what a team would need to do to beat an offense like theirs. Don't think I have seen another game where the time of possession was as lop-sided as it was in the second half. SDSU had the ball for under 3 minutes in the second half! Incredible. The point spread could have been quite a bit wider. YSU left points out there at the end of the first half and the very end of the game as well. SDSU is still a very dangerous team even though their resume is not as good as I once thought. Montana State lost again at home this weekend. Our opponents havent been lighting the world on fire either. North Dakota appears to have fallen apart completely and Bowling Green may not win a game this year (even though I would guess they will). Drake does have a two game winning streak now though. WIU plays UNI next week. That will be an interesting match-up. Not sure who to pick for that. Will WIU build on the momentum from the second half of the USD game? or will they have a hangover effect after losing a hard fought game. I would lean toward them rebounding strongly since they are such a veteran team. USD is for real on both sides of the ball. Hopefully the injuries sustained today are not season enders for any of them. That along with getting too much wear and tear on Streveler are my biggest concerns as USD works their way through the MVFC schedule. Have to continue to improve the production of the RBs. I think they can do it. Regardless - it is exciting to see the success they are having.

They aren't a Valley team yet but could it be that UN_ (no Defense)* will provide the league with a new doormat? They are getting worse by the week. They weren't very good last year either. Now they are a tomato can.

3-2 on the week with 2 upsets. Consistently coming in on the under it's obvious the step up in competition as teams begin league play.

MVFC with 6 out of the first 7 teams at the top of the rankings. Jeesh.

I am surprised that Illinois State is behind SDSU in these rankings. Illinois State is undefeated and have been impressive in every game. Sagarin may have the Jacks ahead but I would think the eye test would favor Illinois State and any committee would also have them ahead if they had to choose the playoff teams today.

I think people are so high on Godert and Wieneke (Rightfully so they are legit NFL draft guys) that they forget about how bad the defense for the bunnies is. I also think that Taryn Christian has a lot of weaknesses that get exposed when he cant throw lob balls to Godert and Wieneke or take off and run at will.
Pair that with the fact they have a poor running game outside of Chrstian scrambling and they could be in for some long games in conference play this year if something doesn't get better fast.

I remember how I was blasted by Bunny fans at the start of the season when I pointed out all the redshirts they were pulling and how that didn't bode well for their D-Line. It came home to roost last weekend and I am going to guess it will be an ongoing issue.

Doesn't SDSU have some players on suspension that will be allowed to play later in the season? Maybe this has affected their depth on defense.

It isn't like the freshman were former track guys that were playing wideout or something - it was the D-Line for crying out loud. Yotes fans know what happens when you are forced to play 18 year old kids at that position against 22 year old men. I'm pretty sure they also lost the D leadership too (don't remember the name) - kind of like their Wessel.
