The first dunk by the Bison player wasn't even a good dunk. He barely jumped in the air and put down a soft non authoritative put back. The Dickerson dunk in my opinion was actually the best of all of them and it wasn't even on the list. They probably didn't have access to that video because there is no way that doesn't make it.

... Also it should have Flacks Dunk Contest 360+ slam. I'm guessing that Midco Sports could only use dunks from their own broadcasts? The Dunk Contest was ESPN, right?

Count me as one that believes Triston Simpson will end up on the all conference team as the PG by season's end. I think we will be very impressed with his improvement this year. We should have the bestback court in the league, especially if you factor Tyler Peterson in there as well.

I would actually not be all that disappointed in this poll if their wasn't always such a slant in it toward SDSU. Obviously there is some bias how the members in this poll lean. I mean come on the Jacks get the men and women pre season poll favoritism and neither team won it last year. Dawn and Otz both did similar jobs with their teams and both came in with many player losses. Of course Coach P's team is picked third and Otz first.

Please explain how there is some bias with the people who voted in this poll, below is the link to the press release, I think all schools are equally represented. BTW I would have voted for USD as #1. www.thesummitleague.org/sports/mbkb/2017-18/releases/20171004nk4g2h "South Dakota State was picked as the favorite to win the 2017-18 Summit League Men's Basketball Championship according to the annual preseason poll of league coaches, SIDs and media."

Just wanted to mention that even though it doesn't fit very well as a topic in this thread, Nate Brown (who hosts a daily 2-hr live sports radio show out of Rapid City) had USD Athletic Director Dave Herbster on his show today.
Nate was very complimentary of USD athletics and Herbster did an excellent interview talking about Coyote athletics. One thing of interest was that Nate asked about the possibility of having another "home" game for the Yotes in Rapid City, like was done a few years ago. Herbster mentioned that he would like to do it again given the right circumstances (e.g. Wyoming, Montana or the like as an opponent).
I think it is good exposure for USD to be on shows like this and hope we can look forward to another game out here in the next few years.

(PS - the only thing we know for sure about the representation is that is not equal. Zim votes, Mick doesn't. But I think this plays into our hands.)

Picked 7th = Summit League Champs! Picked 2nd =
I like the projection, "Yipeeo, here we go!"

This poll should surprise no one. However, this is the year we take down the dauminator in SF before he heads off to Wisconsin.

I'm fine with SDSU being preseason #1. They have almost everyone back and they were playing good ball at the end of the year. If I recall, it seemed that a lot of teams had a bunch of talent returning.

Wow Mick doesn't vote did not know that, why doesn't he vote? I would guess that Jeremy Hoeck is the media voter who represents the Yotes. Normally there is one from each team's local media. The coach, AD, and media rep from each of the teams would account for 24 voters and then there is one additional person from some where for the 25 total.

This poll should surprise no one. However, this is the year we take down the dauminator in SF before he heads off to Wisconsin. This is coming from an SDSU fan but SDSU and USD are about a coin flip. USD won 10 of their last 13 conference games last year with a split with SDSU(in those 13 games). SDSU won 10 of their last 13 games with a 2 point loss @ USD in there. SDSU did beat USD by 3 in SF. I know this doesn't include the whole conference season but it took a while for T.J. to figure things out. SDSU loses only Orris that played much. USD only loses Flack and Dickerson so they don't lose much either. I expect 3 really tough competitive games between these two teams this season.
